I wrote this poem one morning as I was doing an activity with the acronym SAVERS ( Silence , Affirmation , Visualization , Exercise , Reading , and Scribing ) that my uncle who is a life coach introduced to me .
This was at the start of the COVID-19 outbreak and China was the country that was severely hit at that time . We were in lockdown and I was trying to stay positive , use the time to reflect on my achievements and consider whether there was still a future in which to achieve my unfulfilled dreams . I wrote this poem as I came out of my meditation that morning and it really uplifted my spirit .
As women we carry much on our shoulders in being caregivers , burden-bearers and nurturers . COVID-19 , with lockdowns , job uncertainties and stresses from children and spouses might have us feeling down . “ I am a woman rising ” is encouraging us to be strong , continue to reach for our dreams and practice self-care . Too many times we women become selfless givers without realising that it is taking a heavy toll on us and we need to pause and take better care of our health and mental well-being . I learned this lesson during the uncertain days of lockdown ; STOP , BREATHE , BE CALM , BE SILENT . I recommend using the acronym SAVERS for 10 minutes every day to focus on your goals and stay positive .
During the lockdown period another friend also introduced me to Deepak Chopra ’ s 21 Days of Abundance meditation challenge . I had never done any form of meditation before and doing this meditation challenge changed my life . I started to understand some of the things that have over the years held me back from achieving , my goals , and living an abundant life . It was through these meditations that I finally had the courage to get my book published . I had the idea lodged in my mind , but it took ten years to finally bear fruit . This book is spring boarding me and launching me into new horizons . There are many opportunities for us as mature women during these uncertain times . Go deep to find those blockages , be grateful for where you are and plan to charge ahead , seeing the new opportunities and striking while the iron is red hot .
