community and through service — all of those anchors have made me who I am . When the negatives and what I love to call the bitter weed came at me , I used them as fuel to be better , to be stronger , and to be more excellent . Some of my heroes were the teachers that taught me , such as Mr . Rhoe , my Spanish teacher , Mr . Phipps , my History teacher , and Miss Daubon , my English teacher , who told me I could be a great writer . I have always had a circle of powerful friends who support me . That is nurture .
TBWM : I love that : nature and nurture . I am wondering how many of our women can speak of the same story . So , Dr . Dunkley , let us create some balance . Do you have any fears ? Dr . Dunkley : I do . I have many fears . My greatest fear is that somehow , I am inadequate , and I may not have the impact and legacy that genuinely changes people ' s lives in a real and profound way after I am gone . That is a huge fear of mine . I have to manage the dreams that I have for myself because I still have some . I recently told my husband that I dream in color ; on the other hand , he dreams in black and white .
TBWM : I think it is a man ' s thing ; women do dream in color , while for a man , it ' s pretty much clear-cut ; no in-between . Dr . Dunkley : Yes ( laughing ). I said to him that I see the world as my oyster . I am in my 40 ' s , and there is so much more that I would like to do to make an impact . My greatest fear is that I may not realise some of these dreams / goals . Whether it is because of time , resources , or access , but I do have those fears .
TBWM : Let us talk about your accomplishments . Former High School Principal , Deputy Superintendent for the Philadelphia school district , Co-CEO / Owner of Spiritz Montego Bay , CEO of KND Consulting , and you have contributed in so many other ways . Mentor to young people , Sponsor of The Jamaica Sunshine Girls , and the list goes on . Tell us about KND Consulting to start . Dr . Dunkley : KND Consulting , LLC is a company that focuses on organisational leadership , coaching , and development . These elements are the core of who we are .
We also have our tentacles in diversity and inclusion , and strategic planning . We work with organisations , primarily educational agencies , governmental agencies , corporations , non-profits , and faith-based institutions . Our role is to align values and outcomes to the organization ' s core strategic goals . We do this with an internal and external assessment of what is needed and work with our clients on projections and plans to determine if the proposed innovation is a good fit . Once the creation is feasible and a good fit , we help these organisations to get to where they need to go .
Our work is transformational and informational ; how do we change people ' s behaviours , attitudes , and belief systems to achieve individually , collectively , and at the organizational level ? Precovid , we had a waiting list of potential clients , and now all that has changed . The point is that we were very humbled and blessed to have been able to be of distinguished service in this regard , and the work continues .
TBWM : Let us talk about your most recent accomplishment - you winning the bid to be the Northeast Representative of the Jamaican Diaspora . Interestingly enough , you won the seat against four other males . How was that ? Dr . Dunkley : Yes , that was an experience ; the election was a bit contentious because of many reasons too conflated to enumerate .
We now have the Global Jamaica Diaspora Council , which is a revision of the former Diaspora Advisory Board . I currently serve as the Global Jamaica Diaspora Council ( GJDC ) Representative for the Northeast United States . This GJDC is under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade .
Our primary role is to affect policy by advising around core policy areas aligned to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and Vision 2030-- which may soon become vision 2050 . The foci are centered around many sectors , including health and wellness ; education , youth empowerment ; community development and economic development ; crime and security ; food
