TBWM : Is cosmetic surgery for every woman ? Dr . Swaby : So , when I started , I loved doing high BMI ( body mass index ) women . But half of them would come back in a year with all the weight back on . I realized that I was just putting a band-aid on the situation . And they did not have the lifestyle to accommodate the body that they wanted . Over the years , I have changed my criteria for cosmetic surgery . I now focus on women who just want to be enhanced and not for losing weight . And even if I have a high BMI woman , I usually request that they lose the weight simply because they need to do their part by showing me that they can lose the weight and keep it off .
TBWM : Tell me what has been one of your biggest challenges to date and how you have overcome it ? Dr . Swaby : I told you earlier that I wanted five children , right ? My ex-husband also wanted five children — I had twelve miscarriages .
TBWM : Oh , Wow ! Dr . Swaby : It was tough because , after each miscarriage , I saw my husband take one step further away from the marriage . The reality of my situation hit me with a brutal force — I cannot give him children . And if I was not careful , I often found myself sinking into a hole . But my reality was also that I had to pull through all that was happening . I had to go back to the foundation of my faith , that if this was not what God had for me , then so it is .
I was also diagnosed during this time with the H2N5 virus and ended up in the hospital — ICU with total organ failure . I was sick for a long time , like months and months of going from doctor to doctor . Then my colleagues were saying , you know Sandra , maybe you should go home and be with your family . I know what that means . Well , when I heard them saying that , I knew it was time to give God the glory .
