Theatre Hotel (Interior Major Project) | Page 27

This digram illustates the overall structure of the building using the wooden beams since the building is a grade 2 listed. However i think using the beams will help bring out the characteristics and the age of the entire structure. Using this diagram will help explain how the movement will occur within each floor. The ground floor acts as a begining of the story where the visitors will observe the opening act of the narrative (Act 1). The first floor is the second act of the story, this is where the audience will observe the scenario between the characters as they will be standing against the wall of the dining area. Finally the second floor will be the final act of the story where the audience will be guided by a hotel staff - here is where the complication begin. Each of these rooms will have their own perspective of each characters part of the story. The audience will have a choice to observe any of their liking. This diagram are shwon to demonstrate the use of negative and positive lighting within certain space. The negative lighting space represents the idea of ‘backstage’ where the visitors will be preapring themselves before ‘entering’ to the light as if they were appearing on a stage. The diagram also illustrates the sense of transferring the audience towards the narrative as they will only follow once they see a directional light appear as a way of signalling them to carry on with the narrative. 19
