Exisiting Site Plan
The site that is chosen for this project is
located in Soutsea, Bath Square. It is sitting
between between Gunwharf Quays and Round
Tower in the city of Portsmouth and Harbour.
Opposite the Sailing Club is the Quebec House
with the view of the sea of the Harbour, and
within the area of the building there are many
residentials building for the local community.
I chose this site to be part of the project simly
because I instantly admire the Cobblestone Road
and the stree lampost. To me, I found these
features rare esecially in this city. I thought that
the Cobblestone and lampost really brought out
the characteristic of the area. Comparing the
Harbour and Bath Square I personally thought
that theres a juxtaposition aspect of this area. I
also discovered that the area is surrounded with
bars and restaurants even a shopping outlet that
had attracted many tourists, however the Sailing
Club was quite isolated and not many people are
aware of the build nor the area. Therefore, using
the natural flooring material as the main aspect
to bring characteristics back into Bath Square and
attract tourists into the area as a way to raise
awareness of the area.
In this case, I want to create a ‘Theatre Hotel’
which is a pre-booked walking theatre in a Hotel
like building, providing an extra Theatre
establishment in Southsea other than the Kings
Theatre. On the other hand, this Theatre Hotel
will provide independent actress/actors
opportunity to fulfill their careers in performing
art along with attracting more tourists into the
area.
