History Blends with the Future

In the early 1900's, a cattle rancher grew his herd from a mere 38 head to more than 1,700 head of cattle in the Tensleep Valley of Wyoming. The family was known for their policy of loyalty, honesty and personal endeavor. This reputation of their great-grandparents is one the Harless family is proud to represent with the name of their winery. The hat of HAT Ranch Winery is actually the "brand" that was used for the cattle ranch.

For Tim Harless, the winery is the culmination of a long growing passion. What was once a hobby turned into Viticulture & Enology education and ultimately led to intense research to find the ideal location to launch the winery. Helen’s two-year experience managing the wine cellar and organizing tastings for Wine Spectator magazine, which exposed her to the world’s top wines, made her the official “palate” for the winery, able to distinguish the subtleties of any wine’s character. Together they knew they had a shot at producing some great wines now and in the years to come.

In the short time of the winery's existence, HAT Ranch has already received multiple accolades and awards.
