McIlrory beats Woods
R
ory McIlroy may
not have a good year
but he was on fine
form during an 18-hole
exhibition match against
Tiger Woods on Monday,
which he won by one shot
with a 6-under 67.
The Mission Hills course
in Hainan Island was the
setting for McIlroy's secod
victory of this nature,
following his previous oneshot win against Woods at
Jinsha Lake last year.
This win will no doubt
come as a relief after a

difficult year, his most
recent finish being in 27th
place at the BMW Masters
on Sunday.
saw him play a final 1-over
round of 73 but he puts this
down to his putting more
than anything else.
McIlroy will next be seen
taking part in the WGC
Champions event in
Shanghai this week and he
will need to do well if he is
to make it into the top 60
to qualify for the Race to
Dubai.
"I feel my game's better
than the scores suggest."
McIlroy said. "I'm giving
myself plenty of chances
and sooner or later they are
going to fall."
As it currently stands, he is
in 62nd place in the Race to
Dubai standings so he will
need a good week if he is to
stay in the running. Sunday
His victory against Woods
may be a small one but
not an insignificant one
and it may give him the
boost of confidence he
needs to come through this
weekend.
