Heat is on as Fathers & Son’s battle in the Desert!
ed Golf promoters of the European Father & Son Golf Championship have announced the 2013 Grand Final will be held at the excellent Valle del Este Golf Resort in the sunny, hot desert of Almeria Andalucia during the school term holidays 28th October to 3rd November. Almeria is situated in the most southerly eastern point of Spain within the autonomous region of Andalucia and boasts more hours of sunshine than anywhere else in Spain - which is why this area is so popular for Golfers! Tournament Director Toby Marsden said "This is a fantastic bonus for the event. We have negotiated sponsorship with the Andalucia and Almeria Tourist Authorities to televise the Grand Final on SkySports. We were looking for a family golf resort in a Southern European destination and we have managed to find one of the warmest and sunniest places in Europe! Its an important consideration as although we are running a serious championship to find the best Father and Son team in Europe - equally its all about giving competitors and their family an unforgettable holiday experience hence we feel we have found it in this area and Valle del Este." The championship is a 54 hole two ball better ball stapleford for handicap and scratch titles. Fathers and Sons come from all over Europe to compete. There is no age restriction only a max handicap of 24 with 3/4 stroke allowance. Last years Championship oldest competitor was Norman Taylor from South Africa 90 years of age and son Leslie 57 and the youngest son being 10
