I have played Bowood many times over the years . It is one of those courses you can ’ t wait to play again and again . Having played again recently i ’ ve got to say it ’ s never looked or played better than it does at the moment .

Bowood ’ s Championship golf course is located between the towns of Chippenham and Calne in Wiltshire . Having passed through the Golden Gates of Bowood ’ s grand entrance , you know you are somewhere special .

Set in 2000 acres of Grade I listed parkland mapped out by the fashionable 18th century designer , Capability Brown , lies the championship golf course .
Designed by Dave Thomas , renowned architect of The Belfry , this former Challenge Tour venue can provide a stiff challenge when played form the blue tees , at 7309 yards . The course can be enjoyed by the club golfer when playing from the white ( 6878 yards ) or yellow tees ( 6566 yards ).
The beautifully manicured course blends perfectly with the wooded and undulating countryside . The course gives a genuine feeling of getting away from it all , with lovely views towards the Wiltshire downs . The only buildings visible from the course are the Club House , Queenwood Golf Lodge and Derry Hill church spire .
Bowood is a golf course which requires a thoughtful approach , but it is not one on which any golfer should lose a bagful of balls !
