The Zimbabwean Gardener Issue 1 Winter 2012 | Page 3
Welcome letter
Welcome to The Zimbabwean Gardener
After coming home from my travels a few years ago, I honestly
would not have been able to tell you what a primula or a
petunia was. Funnily enough, these two winter annuals are
my biggest must haves for my garden this winter. Just from
learning through work, friends and family, I have discovered
the joy of gardening and understanding the elements that go
with it.
During my rather big learning curve, I have discovered that
Zimbabwe has a wide range of experienced gardeners and
designers, who I have rallied together and I am delighted to
share their knowledge with you in this magazine. So, a big
welcome to the first issue of The Zimbabwean Gardener. I
hope this magazine may inspire you to make the most out
of your garden and make your fingers and lawns greener
than ever before. I would also like to thank all the writers for
contributing their articles and friends and family for their
wonderful help and insight.
The Zimbabwean Gardener has a little bit of everything for
the new, learning and experienced gardener. We will:
• endeavour to inspire you with new, exotic and indigenous
plants which are available in Zimbabwe.
• guide you through the months by telling you what to do in
your garden as well as helping you grow your own veggie
patch.
• bring you creative and inspirational ideas and designs for
both the garden and home.
• tantalise your taste buds with delicious recipes and make
you confident to grow a garden full of herbs to use in your
cooking.
Everything we will bring to you is especially aimed at
The Zimbabwean Gardener!
Happy gardening!
