By now , you have some idea of the sheer volume of data that businesses and private citizens will be using in the near future . But “ data ” is a broad term . It doesn ’ t tell us exactly what we will be doing that generates all this data — and , most importantly , the value we ’ re getting out of every bit and byte .
In this section , we ’ ll focus on the new abilities , capacities and experiences that the Zettabyte world enables . We ’ ll look at what ’ s possible if we modernize the data infrastructure to support these applications — and , conversely , what we ’ ll miss out on if we fail to act .
