You have won many awards over the years, why do you compete in the competitions and try to win the awards? How important is it in your journey as a photographer, as an artist? Winning different awards and accolades over the years has given a lot of credibility and exposure to my work as a documentary photographer. I have received amazing press coverage and have been invited to do talks, to judge, etc. It has given me credibility as a serious documentary photographer and has given the issues I cover a lot of exposure. As a documentary photographer, you want your story to be told and heard by as many people as possible. I think contests are great exposure tools and can enhance a person’s career as a photographer and as an artist. © Larry Louie http://www.larrylouie.com/
