Where do you draw your inspiration?
Okay my inspiration comes from mainly Kanye West,
chrisbrown, Rick Ross, Drake, Diddy; these are the guys
I look upto they are both rappers just like me and they
have brands, So they inspired me to start one when I
look at Kanye West Yeezy shoes he started it jus like a
joke now he is making over 150million on his brand
and that's what I envision for as the brand founder of
Mellowsclothing. I want to walk through city, the
streets and see everyone having my label on them. As
mellows we gotta make it coz we have no option.
How can one become a brand ambassador of
Mellows Nation?
A quote goes, "Fashion is what you're offered four
times a year by designers. And style is what you
choose." We catch up with Mellows Nation founder
Flookey Jones whose dream has come to reality. He
shares his ups and...ups!
Tell us briefly about Mellows Nation
Mellows nation it is a clothing brand but mellows
means someone who is peaceful and calm in mind
loving and caring Soo we bring peace love and
togetherness in the nation.
How did the Idea come about?
Okay mellows was my idea back in 2016. I came up
with the name and I shared my idea with my best
friend. When I started it I wanted to be like Taylor gang
by wiz khalifa. 'Cause am a rapper, I needed a gang to
help push my music so we started calling ourselves
mellows gang. We started going out to events
together eventually we were four in the gang propeey,
Haward, Flemsy then I Flookey jones and people
started noticing us.
What type of clads do you deal with?
Types of clads okay we deal with varieties of outfits
both gents and ladies we have tracksuits hoodies t-
shirts capes etc........We also dress models of fashion
case events.
For one to become an ambassador of the brand, we
require someone who has a bachelor degree in
international relations or politics and history or sales
and marketing; someone who is able to create
audience, to engage and build alot of customers.
Someone with professionalism, and who is able to talk
positively about the brand. Also, he should have
Instagram followers of at least minimum 20k
followers.
What are the challenges that you face?
The only challenge we face is inadequate materials for
the clothes. We have inadequate designers on the
brand also fake imitation of our clothes that's reduce
our sales.
What's the future of your brand?
We envision to be the top best selling brands in Africa
and in the world. We want to dress Kenya and Kenya
to dress the world ⚡
What's your advice to any youth out here who'd
wish to start a brand?
My advice to any youth who wants to start a brand is
first to believe in himself or herself, create a team that
believes in you and you believe in them. No matter
what, keep pushing, it's never easy, have a vision and
motive that pushes you everyday and put God first in
