YOUNG CHRONICLE November 28th, 2014 THE YOUNG CHRONICLE Kiran Bedi Finally Joins Politics Rons and Pranks are very excited as their parents have literally been raving about Kiran Bedi. Mumma and Papa told them that Kiran Bedi was an ace cop and would have become the commissioner of police if things had gone right. She was also known as Crane Bedi, since she had towed away Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s car because of a parking violation. My Favourite Movie, Mary Kom By Aanvi Jain Mary kom is my favourite movie because it is inspiring. Mary Kom’s journey from being a common girl, to becoming a world champion 5 times over, is a story of sheer grit and determination, and inspires not only children but adults too. This movie not only depicted the determination and hard work that Mary kom had put it, it also showed that a woman can take on a mans world too. It showed that women aren’t weaker than men in any way, and are equal to them. Mary Kom had to overcome many odd situations to achieve her goals and dreams. Mary Kom’s father, like any other concerned father would be, was not in favour of her becoming a boxer. But he gave in when he saw his daughter winning. When Mary Kom got married, every one felt that she wouldn’t be able to play anymore. But she started boxing again after giving birth to twins. In fact, it was only after that, that she won the Olympics Gold Medal. Kiran Bedi, by TribuneIndia.com A Tennis champ before she became an IPS officer, Kiran Bedi has several laurels to her credit. She has always been known for her righteousness, and has rubbed many influential people the wrong way. Known to be an honest and sincere officer, Kiran has been through several transfers but has still made it big. Kiran Bedi was one of the key members of the Anna Hazare Anti Corruption campaign, when Annaji was on fast. She had campaigned rigourously with Arvind Kejriwal, then. But she split roads with Kejriwal when he decided to form the Aam Aadmi Party. She wasn’t in favour of him joining politics at that time; whereas he felt that there was no other way to clean the mess. One of the other things I find inspiring about Mary Kom is, the fact that she hailed from Manipur, a fairly neglected state, and still made the country proud by winning 18 medals: 2 bronze, 3 silver, and 13 gold medals. What’s more, she added another feather in her cap, by winning another Gold medal in 2014. Now that Kiran Bedi has joined politics, there is a huge chance that she will become Delhi’s Chief Ministerial candidate from the BJP. Nothing has been declared by the BJP yet, but there is still a huge chance. Moving away from Mary Kom’s life, and coming to the film. I liked Priyanka chopra's acting. The way she built her physique was incredible. Even though she is not Manipuri, she was believable as Mary kom, and her acting was natural. If she does become the Chief Minister of Delhi then there is a huge chance that safety concerns of Delhi would be met. Overall, I am glad that a movie was made on Mary Kom’s life, as not many people knew of her, before the movie came out.
