Movie Review of PK
After a long time has a relevant film come
out from the Indian Film Industry. PK is
one of a kind, but not comparable to what
Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra
have created in the past.
Broadly speaking, it is the story of an Alien
who enters Earth and tries to make sense of
the religious hullabaloo. Essentially, it is a
third party account of what India would
seem like, to a completely new person.
It brings about hilarious differences between Hindus, Muslims, Christians, and Sikhs and shows how irrational
some of our ways and forms of worshipping are and how illogical some of our beliefs are. It particularly talks of all
the so-called ‘Godsmen’, and the way they make a fool of the people. The movie calls the priests in temples, churches,
mosques and gurudwaras, managers of god and creates a satire around them.
Overall, we love the courage of the film-makers and the message they intended to onvey. But the songs could have
been shorter, and the humour could have had more punch. Aamir’s acting was pretty cool, and so was Anushka’s.
Boman Irani seemed pretty out of place though.
Thankfully the movie wasn’t too preachy and made some sense at least. One could easily discount some flaws the
4 film
had, because it was a fairly good attempt.
