Maggi Nahi Chahiye Mujhe Abhi We all love Maggi noodles, don’t we? In fact the noodles have been instrumental in satisfying our off time hunger pangs. Be it in picnics, hostels, travel to offbeat locations, or just generally after getting back from play, we have all savoured these noodles, bothering little about what they actually contain. A test initiated by the UP government at Kolkata's National Food Laboratories, indicates that Maggi contains Mono-sodium Glutamate (an Amino Acid) and 7 times more lead as it should contain. Lead is highly toxic and excessive presence of lead in Blood can lead to lead poisoning, which can lead to severe physical and mental impairment in children. Mono Sodium Glutamate is a taste enhancer and is used in many canned and processed foods. Although it doesn’t have much of a taste itself, it overexcites your cells causing brain damage to varying degrees and potentially even triggering or worsening learning disabilities and causing diseases like Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, Lou Gehrig’s disease and more. Many countries, like the US permit the use of MSG to certain degrees, but it is banned in India. A Maggi Packet clearly states that it contains no Mono-sodium Glutamate. In fact Nestle India claims that the government pulled out a near expiry pack of Maggi and tested it. Such packs are usually recalled by the company so that they are not circulated in the market. It has declared that it will investigate the matter and has already given some packs for testing too. Currently, the Mumbai and Gujarat government has also called for testing of Maggi packs. While we wait and watch what happens to our beloved brand and product, it is strongly suggested that the consumption of the same be restricted if not stopped. completely. Enclava– The Newest Country: The world welcomes the newest country which is the size of a backyard. After Yugoslavia broke, forming several countries, there were many pockets of unclaimed land between the borders. These lands are called ‘No Man’s Land’. There is an Oscar winning movie by the same name. Enclava is built on one such unclaimed territory. The founders of Enclava plan to create a community free from discrimination. Where people will be able to interact in 5 languages: English, Polish, Slovenian, Mandarin and Croatian. More than 5000 people have already applied for the honourable citizenship of this country. However By Angad Madaan there are no plans to accept this country on the world map. En- clava measures just 100sq mts in area, just the size of a backyard or front garden. It has been announced as the smallest country. Its founder claims that the country has the right to exist because it has been established on the land claimed by neither Croatia nor Slovenia. Piotr Wawrzynkiewicz , one of the founders said the idea was to create a place where everyone would exist regardless of any sort of discrimination. I strongly believe that these virtual nations are just posing a threat to the already threatened 'World Peace'. Newer nations are very small in size, they have no population and would invite tensions from the countries they border. Moreover, creating a system in a virtual nation is by no means going to be easy. My suggestion would be that such land which is a discovery of the internet, and is gathering citizens from across the internet, be rested as a responsibility of the United Nations.
