Salman Khan Hit and Run Case
Salman Khan,
the Bollywood actor, has been convicted by the Bombay Sessions court
for culpable homicide not amounting
to murder and sentenced to five years
of imprisonment.
On September 28,
2002, Salman Khan
had bumped his
Toyota Land Cruiser
into the American
Express Bakery on
Hill Road junction in
Bandra over a
group of people
sleeping on the
roadside. One person was killed and
four others were injured.
Salman was arrested for rash and
negligent driving
against the charges
of culpable homicide (a specific offence which involves the illegal
killing of a person
either with or without an intention to
kill). During the accident, Salman was
accompanied by
singer Kamaal
Khan in his car and
a bodyguard. The
chargers had been
dropped later.
At present, Salman
is being tried under section 304 (I),
(rash and negligent
driving), which attracts

ishment of two years and section 304 (II) attracts the maximum sentence of ten years.
Furthermore, in May 2010, a chemical analyst reported that Salman
was driving the car under the influence of alcohol when the accident happened. The test found 62 mg of alcohol in his blood.
However, the judgment received mixed
reactions. The wife of
the dead man and the
other victims has
been demanding
compensation. The
Bollywood has come
forward for the actor
supporting Salman on
social media sites like Twitter. His fans not only remain sympathetic on social media, but also gathered near his house to extend their
support.
Later on, the same day of the judgment, the Bombay High
Court has granted him interim bail till May 8, 2015.The Hon'ble
Court has also agreed to the appeal of the actor and suspended his
five-year jail sentence. This has now paved the way for him to secure a regular bail. This was possible because the jail sentence is
less than seven years, which allows the sentence to be suspended,
once the appeal is admitted.

that although the
Aam Aadmi Party had made huge promises, they
have been unable to deliver and haven’t got the
middle class any immediate relief from problems in the sectors they had covered in their
manifesto.
The sectors they had catered to were:
Education & Health
Economy & Ecology
Social Justice
Sports, Culture & Media
National Security
