Ricky Ponting’s coaching skills for IPL
Ricky Ponting, a former Australian captain, had been appointed as the coach for the Mumbai Indians this IPL season.
He replaced former coach John Wright.
Ponting made his team win a trophy in his very first coaching assignment. Even though, Mumbai Indian’s had lost four
consecutive matches in the first two weeks of the season, Ponting never lost hope.
His expertise not only helped his team reach the finals, but also win the title in the
eighth season of IPL.
Ponting has been a specialist right-handed batsman and a slips and close catching
fielder. He trained the squad competently. He took over as the coach since the beginning of the season, playing an efficient role despite having a larger support staff.
