India Loses to the Aussies
Those of you who have
been following the
world cup, would already know about the
debacle on Thursday.
The entire nation
mourned the loss and
many blamed Anushka
Sharma for it, which is
preposterous.
Coming back to the
game, India lost because they crumbled
under the pressure of
the semis, the pressure
of playing Australia,
and the pressure of
chasing 329 runs.
In hind sight, there can
be many strategies, we
could have built . But
it’s always easier to
win, in hindsight.
Here’s what actually
happened.
The Match was going
fine till Kohli took a
catch and Warner
went down. But the
game changed with
Smith’s century. Considering that Australia
is such a strong batting side, we still did a
decent job, though our
fast bowlers could
have done better.
India’s batting side,
however, crumbled.
Things changed remarkably when Dhawan and Kohli got out.
That too, Kohli, after
making just a
run. He apparently misjudged
a ball and took a
sweep, which he
hadn’t perfected.
There after, the
game came tumbling down. Dhoni was the only hope after Raina made
just 7 runs. However Dhoni, could also just stick around
for 65 runs.
The problem was, that India’s batting lineup couldn’t
forge a good partnership. Had they been able to create
even one, they probably would have given Australia a
tough time, even if they didn’t win the match.
That said, India’s performance through the tournament,
has been great. Just that the team couldn’t pass this hurdle called Australia.
But at the end of the day, winning and losing, is all
part of the game.
MARTIAN MILESTONES
NASA's long-serving Mars rover Opportunity set a significant benchmark as it
clocked in 26.219 miles (42 kilometres)the first-ever Martian marathon.
It took the robot 11 years and two
months to beat the previous record held
by the Soviet-era Lunokhod 2 Moon
Rover.
Opportunity arrived on the Red Planet
on January 25, 2004, with an "original
three-month prime mission." It’s been
11 years and it is still going strong!
NASA's Curiosity rover
has found nitrogen on the
surface of
Mars, a discovery that
adds to evidence the
Red Planet could once
have sustained life.
By drilling into Martian
rocks, Curiosity found
evidence of nitrates,
compounds containing
nitrogen that can be
used by living organisms.
The Curiosity team has already found evidence that other ingredients needed for
life, such as liquid water and organic matter, once existed at the site known as Gale
Crater.
