Our First Article by a Young Journalist, Aanvi Jain
Modi recently claimed that progress is linked to
science. What else do you think progress is
linked to?
Progress is only not linked to science it is a
process that involves many inputs.
Development of Science has been important, since man's
survival is dependent on nature. In fact, one of the most
important aspects of progress is linked to agriculture.
Agriculture is important because even in a country like
India, where agriculture is a big industry, many food items
are imported and only 20 percent food is from India.
Secondly, progress in science would lead to better
medical aid. The number of hospitals will increase, and
latest technology will be used to treat people. Also, a
progress in Science will make medical aid cheaper.
Here’s announcing The Young Journalist mentorship
programme. Through this programme, not only will your
article be published, but you will also be mentored to write
better. Every Saturday, a list of topics will be shared with
you, and you would be expected to read on the topic and
submit an article, the subsequent Tuesday. Feedback will
be shared with you, by Wednesday. Once you share the
final article, the article will be published in the newspaper
on Friday.
Why should you participate in this programme?
- Well, Rons and Pranks would love more kids to join

We are making a huge advancement in space
technology, telecommunication, construction of dams on
most rivers for irrigation and electricity generation,
defense, and infrastructure development. This
advancement is helping us achieve a better standard of
living. But, this advancement has side effects too. One of
the side effects of science is the resultant pollutants: E.g.
aerosols and cfcs.
But science isn't the only thing we need to progress in.
There are a number of other factors that lead to overall
progress of a nation.
Education is one of them. Education is important,
because if people are educated, there will be more
industries and less unemployment, less poverty, high
standard of living, less religious clashes, and a better
understanding amongst people.
Moreover, investment in human skill development is
equally, if not more important, than infrastructural
development. The HRD deals with all aspects of human
development whether they relate to poverty, gender
discrimination, denial of human rights and liberty, impact
of globalization and environmental concerns as these
factors play very important role for the overall progress of
the country.
The other important aspect is Economic Development.
Economic development is directly related to science and
education, both. But here, we are talking about policy
development that could help people monetarily in many
ways, and would lead to further development of the
above-mentioned factors.
So it isn't only development in science that is important
for the progress of a nation. Education and Skill
development, and Economic Development are equally
important too. All these factors together help in the
progress of a nation.
