YOUNG CHRONICLE November 28th , 2014 MY FAVOURITE MOVIE… BY TRISHA FIZA SAINI My favorite movie is Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters. It is the second movie in the Percy Jackson series. The series is based on the books by Rick Riordan. I like this movie as it is very thrilling and adventurous. My favorite character is Percy Jackson, the hero. Percy is shown to be in the second year at 'Camp Half-Blood', in this movie. This is a place where mortal off-springs (demigod) of the Greek Gods are trained. They train to fight monsters that are constantly attacking them. Since Percy is the mortal off-spring of Poseidon, one of the three main Gods in Greek Mythology. Albeit mortal, but the fact that Percy is the son of Poseidon, makes him a very powerful demigod. In this sequel, 'Thalia's tree' (which creates a magic force field to protect the camp from monsters) is poisoned. The force field is destroyed and there is only one thing that can save it, the Golden Fleece. Percy's camp mate and nemesis, Clarisse, is assigned to get the fleece from the dangerous Sea of Monsters. Percy also decides to find it with two of his friends, Grover and Annabeth; and half-brother, Tyson. During the adventure Grover is captured by their enemy, Luke. Luke needs the fleece to resurrect the evil Titan Lord Kronos; and forces Grover to find the fleece. Ultimately, Percy teams up with Clarisse and destroys the enemy, gets the fleece, and saves the camp. This movie is not only interesting, it has taught me a few things as well. I learnt that sometimes you need to take risks to save the people you love and care about. Percy Jackson went to the Sea of Monsters even though he knew that most demigods hadn’t returned. He did this because he knew that if he survived he would be able to save the camp. Another important thing I learnt is teamwork. Individually, both Clarisse and Percy were unable to defeat the enemy, Luke. But when they teamed up, they were able to defeat Luke and get the Golden Fleece back to camp. Now I know that sometimes you have to team up to win, even if it is with your nemesis.
