YOUNG CHRONICLE The History of St. Valentine Rambo and Pranks have been very curious about Valentines Day, being the day for love. While their parents tell them that love shouldn’t be restricted to one day, the kids are curious as to why such a day came about. There are several stories behind Valentine’s Day. But, it is believed that St. Valentine was a priest in Rome, long time ago. During that time, King Claudius II had made a law that no military officer would be allowed to marry. This is because he believed that single or unmarried men made better soldiers. It is believed that Saint Valentine was against this law. In fact, he himself got young couples married secretly. When King Claudius II found out that St. Valentine was secretly marrying off couples, he put him in jail and later got him hung. Some believe that the young couples, who got married because of St. Valentine, gave flowers and letters to him when they visited him in the prison. There is also a slightly different version of the story. It is said that when St. Valentine was imprisoned, he fell in love with his jailor's daughter. Before he was put to death he sent the first letter to his love, signed as 'Your Valentine'. These words are still used on cards today. Perhaps we'll never know the true story behind the man named St. Valentine, but February has been the month to celebrate love, for a long time. Another famous person from Valentine's Day that you may be wondering about is Cupid. In Roman mythology Cupid is the son of Venus, the goddess of love. Cupid is said to be a mischievous boy who goes around wounding both gods and humans with his arrows, making them to fall in love. World Cup Schedule for a Week.
