Editorial: India– 68 Years of Independence India has been free for 68 years, and celebrated its 69th Independence Day. But are we truly free? Has India achieved the ideals that the founders of the nation had set? The answer would be, yes and no, both. While we have developed in a lot of ways, the development is yet to reach everyone. The rich are getting richer and the poor still have a long way to go. Though 65% of India’s population is below 35 years of age, India doesn’t have enough jobs to accommodate all of them. While the new government is trying to change the scenario, it seems it will take a while to change completely. It’s been 68 years since we have been separated into India and Pakistan, however we are still perpetually at war because of some wrong decisions taken regarding the Kashmir issue. We call ourselves secular, and socialist but we still discriminate basis religion along with caste and gender. It probably is time for us as people, to change and unify to create a better nation. This time, let’s not only depend on the government and be the change ourselves. We will be truly independent the day we Saina Becomes Number One Saina Nehwal lost to Spain’s Carolina Marin in the finals of World Badminton Championships held in Jakarta. She, however, won the Silver medal for India. Nehwal said that she did not give her best as the final match was more of mental than physical. According to her, the first game didn’t go well. The Badminton World Federation Women's Singles 2015 has ranked her as the top player in the list. She is the first Indian to win a bronze medal in Badminton at the London Olympics 2012. She is also the first Indian to win the World Junior Badminton Championships and the first Indian to win a Super Series tournament. Currently, she ranks number one. Saina is aiming to participate and excel in all the super series tournaments in Rio Olympics slated next year.
