LABOUR DAY
The Labour Day in India is celebrated to honour the contribution of working
men and women. It is observed on the first of May every year. Also called May
Day, it corresponds to the International Workers' Day which is celebrated
around the world.
History of Labour Day in India
Labour Day in India or May Day was first celebrated in present day Chennai,
then Madras on May 1, 1923. The initiative was taken by the Labour Kisan
Party of Hindustan. The leader of the party, Comrade Singaravelar arranged
two meetings to celebrate this occasion.
Origin of Labour Day
The history of the Labour Day dates back to May 1, 1886. On this day, labour
unions in the United States of America decided to go on a strike with the demand that workers should not be allowed to work more than 8 hours a day.
May Day was the day when workers demanded that they wouldn’t work more
than 8 hours everyday.
After learning about labour day Rambo and
Pranks have decided to file a petition and
send it to the HR department in their
parent’s companies, since their Mom and
Dad never get back home after 8 hours of
work!
