YOUNG CHRONICLE
How Chu Chu Chidiya fought the Bullies
Chu chu chidiya, a little humming bird, had just recently learnt to fly, when her mumma decided that
she should start going to school. She was one of the smallest birds in class, but had a few flying
championships in her kitty. While the teachers loved her, the students were immensely jealous of
her and made fun of her tiny size. They joked that she was so small and
light that she didn’t need to fly, the wind just carried her by itself. Some
birds were also mean to her and would hog off all the grains that her
mother packed in her tiffin, pushing her aside.
One day, Chu Chu couldn’t take it any more. She came home crying, and told
her mother everything. Mumma knew it was time for Chu Chu to learn the next lesson. She told Chu
Chu that it was first important to not let any thing affect her mind. If she did not get affected by
what the others said or did, she wouldn’t give them the pleasure of having troubled her. Once she
was mentally disconnected, she could move to step two. When she asked what step two was, Mumma
told her that she would need to free her mind first and complete step one. When she the others
stopped affecting her, she would tell her step two.
So the next day, Chu Chu went to school, mentally prepared to ignore the bullies. She took a book
with her, which she would read when she was alone, or would hop off with the birds who were not
mean to her, completely side stepping the mean birds. During lunch break, the friendly birds invited
Chu Chu to hever her lunch with them. So she was no longer alone and no longer a target for the
bullies. She already felt stronger, that she now had some friends. She then realised that she was so
engrossed worrying about the mean birds that she never paid attention to the ones who never
troubled her and were in fact nice to her. She then started making friends, and within a few days,
the mean birds were completely off her mind.
Mumma then realised that Chu Chu seemed much happier. So she went up to her and asked her,
‘wouldn’t you want to know what Step 2 is?’ Pat came the response, ‘I know there is no real step two
mumma, you knew that if I followed step one properly, I would automatically start focussing on the
good and more important things in life!’
Mumma was very impressed and proud of Chu Chu, she knew that her little birdie was growing into a
wonderful person.
