Mr. Vajpyee and Pandit Malviya were.
Things that Made Big News in 2014

Prime Minister. His election

Hain’, was a huge success.
Mangalyaan: India
launched the
spacecraft to Mars in
the very first
attempt. No country
has been able to
launch a successful
space mission to Mars in the first go.
The Ebola Virus broke out in Africa in February
That’s when mumma told them that Mr. Vajpyee became
the Prime Minister of the country from 1998 to 2004.
They also told the kids that Mr. Vajpyee was a very
efficient Prime minister and under him, the country
grew well.
Papa then explained that Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya,
was a freedom fighter and an educationist, most known
for founding the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in
Varanasi, in 1915. Rons and Pranks had a cousin studying
in BHU, and were totally impressed that the founder of
one of the largest universities in Asia had won the
Bharat Ratna.
Then papa told them that there was more to Malaviya.
He was the President of the Indian National
Congress before independence, in 1909 & 1913,1919 and
1932 and fought in the freedom struggle. He was also
the Chairman of Hindustan Times from 1924 to 1946
the Hindi edition of Hindustan Times, in 1936.
An Indian and a Pakistani, Kailash Satyarthi and
Malala Yousafzai won the Nobel Peace Prize
together.
Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, flying from Beijing to
Kuala Lumpur, disappeared with 239 people on
board. The aircraft is believed to have crashed into
the Indian Ocean.
Jammu and Kashmir were faced with floods, killing
many people and destroying a lot of houses, roads,
and other property.
