Would you eat genetically modified French Fries?
(Continued)
Last month, the U.S. Department of Agriculture gave an
approval to start growing ‘Innate’, a potato that is
designed to produce lesser chemical when cooked on
high heat. But many people feel that changing a crop’s
genes could be harmful, which is why many of them are
resorting to organic food.
The Question is, would you be ready to eat food that is
How Ayan became an Acha Bacha
From then, Ayan started praying to God regularly; he wanted to be transported to that magical
world. One fine day, his wish was fulfilled as God sent a genie to take him to that island. The moment
Ayan landed there, he was overjoyed. It was fabulous—lovelier than he had imagined.
He decided to explore the island. While the greenery,
flowers, rainbows and fountains greeted him everywhere;
Ayan did not see any children of his age. Why was the
whole island so deserted? He continued walking: eating
whatever he liked on the way, since there were no
restrictions.
After a few kilometres, he spotted another huge
building. What he saw inside was horrifying. It was a
hospital and all the kids were admitted there as
patients. All of them were very fat; could barely move
around; and suffered from diseases like diabetes, blood pressure, tiredness, and laziness.
He heard the doctor talking to a nurse, “This is what happens when there is excess of anything. These
kids here ate junk food all the time, which is not healthy. You can eat these treats occasionally, but
not everyday. They lack nutrition that helps your body become strong, fight infections, keep all the
organs healthy and improve overall fitness. These children never ate good food what their mothers
cooked, but prayed to be transported to this island. It is a lesson that you should never be greedy.”
Ayan was scared to death. He hid behind the door and as soon the doctor turned his face, he ran from
there, stopping only at the first house, the entrance of the island. He then started crying
uncontrollably, apologizing to God for his mistake. He promised that he would listen to his parents and
eat healthy, home-cooked food regularly and junk food occasionally.
God took pity on Ayan and ordered the genie to take him back to his home. He has succeeded in his
mission of making him see the error of his ways. Therefore, there was no need to keep him on the
island.
From then, Ayan never said no to anything his mother cooked. He started enjoying green vegetables,
dals, curd, idlis, rice, and even milk. He truly became an acha bacha.
