THE YOUNG CHRONICLE
MS Dhoni, The making of the Legend
Mahendra Singh Dhoni is an inspiration for all. Rambo and Pranks were reading more about him, when
they chanced upon an article that gave some details about him as a person.
The 2011 world cup wasn’t the proudest moment in MS
Dhoni’s life. It was when he accepted the rank of
honorary lieutenant colonel in the Army, that he felt the
proudest.
As a child, Dhoni liked reading up on weapons of combat.
Which is why he got interested in the Army. The fact
that Dhoni is patriotic is pretty amazing, and it reflects
when he plays for the country.
Dhoni chose the Parachute Regiment, in the Army after
a lot of research. He had the choice of four regiments
but chose a fifth, the Parachutes, because it is a
hundred per cent volunteer regiment. He felt he would
be able to contribute more with them later in life.
Dhoni has a peculiar problem while buying Jeans. The
trouble is, that his thighs are very thick, and he has to
buy 34-36 waist jeans, and get it altered to a 32, only so
that his thighs fit in.
As a child, Dhoni once had a big cricket match just a
day before his exams. His father then told him that,
'with only 24 hours to go you would either be ready
for exams, or not. Go and play, and have some fun for
Dhoni has always been a big fan of Master blaster
Sachin Tendulkar. In fact, he revealed that he used to
wake up only to watch Sachin’s innings, and went back to
there is nothing more you can do in your studying.' In
other words, he asked him to have his priorities in
order."
sleep after it got over… he hardly ever watched a
complete match.
In fact, he is so fond of sleeping that he wakes up only a few hours before his match, to get ready and eat, before
the game begins.
