This year was a first for the editor who finally shot his first turkey after four years of hunting for them. It was a cold and wet Sunday afternoon when the bird was shot. He had been sitting in the blind for almost four hours when he saw the tom walking towards his decoys. He didn't really wait until the propper time to shoot, 40 yards, but still got the bird anyway. It weighed 24 lbs, had a nine inch beard and 3/4 inch spurs.
