costumes. The directors even managed to
include the Lioness in their production. The
dark humour at the heart of the myth was most
effectively portrayed. The winner of Dancy
Pot was Trant’s with their adaptation of A
Grimm Job by Seth Macfarlane. The script
was adapted from an episode of Family Guy
which was in turn a version of Grimms’ Fairy
Tales. With a parent telling stories to their
child as the backdrop, the audience was given
hilarious enactments of classics such as
Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood. The
crude yet entertaining comedy made the
production hugely entertaining. The fairy tale
stories also gave the directors lots of room to
work with on the costume front with a masked
wolf as the standout piece.
║ART & EXHIBITIONS
Omar Lingemann (A) & Ned Whitley (D)
As we commemorate the 200 th anniversary of
her death, Treasury has for the past couple of
months been running an exhibition on College
life in the age of Jane Austen. The exhibition,
organised by Dr Foster, has given an insight
into education in 18 th Century Britain, and it
has been most interesting to see the ways in
which Winchester College has both changed,
and indeed in many ways stayed the same.
One striking example is that ekker was then
habitually held upon St Catherine’s Hill:
something many men were not aware of
before. Particularly beautiful was one of the
books specially bound as a prize for boys,
adorned with Wykeham’s crest. Whilst it is
regrettable that books prizes are not quite so
special anymore, it is nice to see that traditions
are still being upheld. The exhibition runs into
August and we would strongly recommend a
visit.
In the summer term of each year the Drew
Travel Exhibition is held in the Art School
gallery by the various winners of the Drew
Travel Scholarship, usually men in VI Book 2.
This year’s exhibition was, as usual, of very
high quality and included works in various
different styles and media. There was a stark
contrast between the traditional paintings of
Venice by Wilfred Bentley (G) and Inigo
Maciejewski (B), and the modern photography
of Laurence Huang (G) and Max Saunders-
Stoner (G) who overlayed photographs from
their Barcelona trip on top of one another.
Michael Rossiter’s (C) grander pieces, also
inspired by travel to Barcelona, dominated his
side of the wall.

Athletics
Winchester have enjoyed another successful
term of athletics, with a handful of boys
performing extremely well. The season began
with a meet at Marlborough where Chidi
Olinma (C) got his season off to a great start
with a win in the 200m. Ben Miyano (I) and
Thomas O'Callaghan-Brown (G) both won
their 400m legs. Then came the Districts
where Chidi qualified for the 200m and Tom
Brown (G) qualified for the High Jump. There
was also some success at the Hampshire
Championships where Ben came 2nd in both
the 400m and 800m, Thomas came 3rd in the
400m and Chidi won the 100m. Elsewhere,
both Tom and Joss Greig (A) came 3rd in their
respective groups. Special mention must go to
Chidi who managed to qualify and compete at
the Inter-Counties.
Cricket – Lords
After a tiring, but useful pre-season tour to
Desert Springs in Spain, Lords were well
prepared and excited for the season ahead. As
last year, Mr Gover coached the side, and with
this being Mr Watson’s final year at the
school, there was an element of sadness with
each game ticking down.
We started the season against Marlborough.
Despite 77 from Sebastian Byers (I), Lords
could only muster 151, which was knocked off
relatively comfortably, despite economical
bowling from Kahan Shirvani and this year’s
captain Gus Dodd (both K). We then travelled
to Canford, where once again strong batting
left us with a tricky chase. Shirvani scored a
brisk 63, however, it was a reality check about
where we were as a side. The next game was a
must win against Dauntsey’s. Byers and Alec
Younger (F), rebuilt the innings after a top-
order wobble with patient 61 and 53
respectively. This was then backed up by
excellent bowling from our attack, especially
