welcome to caps nation Welcome #capsnation to round 6 of QBL19 and this round finds both of our men’s and women’s team at full strength for the first time this season, except of course for our injured Captain Emma Read who underwent knee surgery Thursday week ago – get well soon Emma. This week saw one the competition’s former MVP players Shanavia Dowdell arrive at the Capitals – welcome Shanavia we hope you enjoy your stay in Brisbane and I must welcome Issy Parker back home to the Capitals. Issy is one of our former juniors who has been at College and is currently on holiday and will return to the states to resume her studies later this year. In recent weeks we have travelled to Seahawks, Pirates, Rip City and Southern Districts with mixed results – we narrowly missed taking home the Mick McSween Cup at Districts – the win loss margin was not in our favour by 2 points. Zac Carter has spent a number of weeks out due to injury and returned to the team in time for Spartans game. Jason Cadee was awarded player of the round for round 4 – congratulations Jason. Locally this week sees the GBL Silver and social competitions enter into their finals – GBL Gold will follow in late June you should keep this mind as the men and women vie for championship rings. Go Caps!! Tonights game is the return game against RIP and we expect both games to be close and want to protect our home court. Road games are always tough so we want to take advantage of the coming month where we have 5 home games. While not a season defining time it is an opportunity to set the season up for a strong run to the finals. Trevor Lidstone General Manager Brisbane Basketball Inc Our SBL men and women are also progressing well and both are undefeated at the moment – they will have faced some stiff opposition at Wizards last night (Friday). In other news, the association received an award as 2018 Administrator of the Year at the recent BQ Awards and I would like to acknowledge and thank everyone for the support I have received from our members and clubs without which this honour would not have been awarded. 3
