ARCOONA MANOR
“Arcoona” is aboriginal for “flowing
waters below”. The name refers to
the Meander River that runs through
the valley beneath Arcoona Manor
B&B. A luxury Bed & Breakfast
accommodation in the village of
Deloraine. Arcoona Manor is a
historic 120-year old house built
in the Edwardian style. A true
Tasmanian getaway.
History
Arcoona has fluidly transitioned through
a variety of changes since its completion
in 1892. The Cole family lived in Arcoona
from 1892-1937, with the house doubling
as a doctor’s surgery for Dr. Cole until
1928. The years of 1936-1967 saw th e manor
used as a private hospital. Then in 1973 a
deteriorating Arcoona was purchased to
restore it back to a family home. The late
seventies to eighties saw Arcoona operate
as a boutique hotel, before being reverted
back to a private residence. Then in 2016,
Arcoona was purchased by the current
owner who transformed the grand manor to
its current state. A modern accommodation
with preserved original features including
the stained glass windows, light fittings,
fire places, intricate timber ceilings, and
servant’s bells.
The Manor
Arcoona Manor is situated high on the
hill overlooking the charming village
of Deloraine. The manor also includes
uninterrupted views of the Great Western
Tiers mountain range. The building has a
majestic drawing room with open fire and
baby grand piano, a formal dining room,
the original ballroom, a relaxing sitting
area with fireplace, and the original billiard
room. Outside there are 3 acres of gardens
for guests to enjoy, featuring an orchard,
croquet lawn, and garden chandelier.
