 Mushrooms are fungus and recycle leaves, trees, even remains of animals. Without mushrooms the planet would suffocate.  In Crete, the southern island of Greece, mushrooms are called “amanites” (latin – “amanita”), from where mushrooms then were called “manitaria”.  Julius Caesar loved wild “amanites” (mushrooms), therefore in his palace there were many of them.  Mushrooms “kapanouska” are the most delicious. In Grevena, there are many of them.  There are toxic and poisonous mushrooms. If we cut those who are lethal, the poison will be spread in the soil.  The most dangerous mushroom in whole Europe is “amanita phalloides”. Its color is yellow with brown or green. Its foot is white, as its “ring”. It has also got a “volva”, something like a case where its foot is.  ring  volva
