regeneration project with many people involved, this attention to detail was key to ensuring a successful, collaborative process.
Harrison- Black Tap The client’ s brief was for Harrison to translate the Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer hospitality brand, born in New York City’ s SoHo, into a flagship London destination while respecting the constraints of the Grade II listed heritage building in Picadilly.
The project required an immersive, experienceled environment that balanced authentic brand storytelling with heritage preservation, driving guest engagement, dwell time and social interaction.
The design responds to diverse users by creating a flexible environment that enhances comfort and flow. The zoned layout supports a range of experiences, from high-energy social dining to more intimate seating, while interactive and layered features encourage exploration of the space.
One of the most successful design solutions is a bespoke self-supporting back bar structure. With walls and ceilings protected from intervention, the team engineered a steel framework, allowing for dramatic arches, lighting and brand expression without compromising the historic fabric. This transformed a major limitation into a defining feature, framing the original architecture but introducing a bold New York identity.
Award Winning Design for Hospitality Spaces The BIID Interior Design Awards continue to reflect the ambition and excellence of contemporary interior design. Through careful consideration of heritage constraints and space intention, the shortlisted commercial projects showcase the intricacies involved when crafting functional and welcoming, hospitality spaces. The winners of the BIID Interior Design Awards 2026 will be announced during the awards ceremony in October, hosted at the prestigious Drapers’ Hall.
