Where Folklore Breathes Through the Walls: Inside Ardbeg House on Islay

In the village of Port Ellen on the Isle of Islay, where legends drift through the air like peat smoke, something extraordinary has emerged. A kaleidoscopic fantasia of local folklore and whisky culture, Ardbeg House is Russell Sage’ s latest offering in Scottish hospitality design.
Fromental, the renowned London-based atelier celebrated for its hand-painted wallcoverings, is delighted to highlight its central role in the design of Ardbeg House. Created in collaboration with Russell Sage Studio, the hotel’ s 12 suites and bedrooms are rich in storytelling, folklore, and craftsmanship, with over 24 bespoke Fromental wallcoverings at their heart.
A close friend and collaborator of Fromental’ s, the company has long admired Russell’ s ability to capture the essence of place in every detail. Previous joint projects for Glenmorangie House saw wildlifeinspired wallcoverings climb from walls to ceilings,
