A New Creative Landmark: ibis Styles Old Tbilisi Opens With Bold Design by STUDIOSHOO
A vibrant new ibis Styles hotel has opened in the heart of Tbilisi, bringing a fresh burst of colour and creativity to the city’ s hospitality scene. Designed by architecture and interiors studio STUDIO SHOO, the hotel blends the playful spirit of the ibis Styles brand with the rich cultural identity of Tbilisi.
The design draws inspiration from stained glass – a visual motif deeply rooted in the city’ s architectural heritage, often seen in traditional staircases and carved wooden balconies.“ Stained glass is part of Tbilisi’ s visual language,” explains Shushana Khachatrian, founder of STUDIO SHOO.
“ It’ s decorative, expressive and full of individuality – just like the city itself.”
Housed in a beautifully restored building in Old Tbilisi, the hotel retains original features including a castiron spiral staircase, turquoise wooden balconies, and traditional stained-glass windows. Inside, the public areas feature light-toned walls and sculptural forms, punctuated by playful details: a bright yellow lounge seat, plant-filled vases inspired by Georgian design, and a two-level reception desk designed for accessibility.
