Dean ’ s is a family-owned business based in Huntly , Aberdeenshire , producing premium shortbread , biscuits and savoury cheese bites .
The story began in 1975 when Helen Dean started baking shortbread in her kitchen in Huntly to raise money for the Huntly Pipe Band , where her husband Bill was drum major . Their touring helped spread her shortbread ’ s fame far and wide , and soon , the aroma of home baking would fill the town as Helen established her own small bakery to meet demand .
From these humble origins Dean ’ s has developed significantly , employing 140 people across the business .
The success of the company has been built upon the popularity of Helen ’ s original shortbread recipe and over the years we have continued to innovate with the development of further shortbread products as well as our savoury cheese bites and plant based shortbread . Some of the delectable flavours in our shortbread range include black forest gateau , salted caramel & apple , cinnamon bun and rhubarb & custard .
Onsite , we have our Gift Shop and Bistro which all offer a wide variety of choice to customers along with viewing windows into our production areas .
Today we are a household brand in Scotland , slowly expanding over the UK . We have a strong brand presence within all major supermarket retailers in Scotland , within the gift sector and have a growing export business , including China , USA and Australia .
All our products are produced , processed , and packaged in our own purpose-built factory in Huntly , and we pride ourselves on using time honoured handcrafted baking methods . Our products are produced using the finest ingredients and slowly baked for a satisfying melt in the mouth texture .
Dean ’ s foodservice range includes single and twin packs in vibrant colours , ideal for cafes , B & B ’ s , hotels , and tourist attractions . The single serve mini shortbread packs are perfect to serve alongside tea and coffee and the colourful Steven Brown Art packs are sure to brighten anyone ’ s day , along with the delicious taste of our all butter shortbread . New to the range is our snack pack assortment including a traditional shortbread finger , a choc chip biscuit , a butterscotch biscuit and a lemon biscuit – the perfect assortment of our favourites !
