Fattal Group , owner of Leonardo Hotels , acquires Brighton ’ s historic Grand Hotel

Fattal Group (“ the Group ”) - owner of Leonardo Hotels UK & Ireland - one of the fastest growing hotel companies in Europe , has today announced the acquisition of the award winning , historic Grand Hotel in Brighton . The Group plans to invest significantly in the transformation of rooms and facilities and are committed to retaining the hotels iconic status and title .
First opened in 1864 , the Grand Brighton occupies a prime location on Brighton ’ s seafront with unobstructed views over the English Channel . The seven floor hotel has 201 rooms , including seaside facing balcony bedrooms and luxury suites , a restaurant and bar and a dedicated meeting and banqueting space , providing in excess of 1,200 sqm across 13 rooms . This includes the sea-facing Empress Suite , which can accommodate up to 900 delegates .
The acquisition of the Grand follows Fattal Group ’ s recent acquisition of the iconic Dilly hotel in Piccadilly , London and the 2018 acquisition of the Midland Hotel in Manchester , where the group invested in transforming the hotel , restoring the Midland Hotel as one of Manchester ’ s leading hotels .
These acquisitions strengthen the position of Leonardo Hotels as one of the UK and Ireland ’ s leading hotel brands and one of the fastest growing hotel groups in Europe . The Dilly and Grand Hotel acquisitions were undertaken through Fattal ’ s € 400m fund , raised in partnership with a number of institutional investors . In July , it also acquired six landmark hotels in Spain for over € 165 million and recently announced the acquisition of nine hotels in Austria in Vienna , Salzburg and Linz .

The Grand will join the Group ’ s expansive collection of hotels in the South of England , which include Leonardo Royal Hotel Brighton Waterfront , The Dilly in Central London , Leonardo Royal Hotel Southampton Grand Harbour , Leonardo Royal Hotels at London City , Tower Bridge , and St Paul ’ s London , NYX Hotel London Holborn and Leonardo Hotels in Plymouth , Exeter , Brighton and Southampton .
