20 the World Of Hospitality Bang Bang London’s Biggest Asian Food Hall Launches Summer 2017 The highly anticipated Stiff + Trevillion designed Bang Bang Oriental will open in summer 2017 in North London. The eco-friendly venue will bring a pan- Asian culinary experience and cultural entertainment concept to the capital. Bang Bang Oriental will encompass a food court, restaurant, shopping experience and community space - all under one roof. North London’s hottest new destination will celebrate Asia’s vibrant culture with 33 individual kiosks offering an eclectic mix of Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Indian, Vietnamese, Singaporean, Taiwanese and Malaysian cuisine. This sophisticated and affordable food court, seating up to 450 guests, will bring the energy and authentic vibe of an Asian Street Food Market to the area. Richard Blandy, Director of Stiff + Trevillion said: “The Bang Bang concept layers a contemporary filter over the pan-Asian culinary experience and Stiff + Trevillion found it an incredibly exciting project to work on. With 33 individual kiosks, each unique in their offering but elevationally homogenous in the overall aesthetic, the scheme brings a stylish coherence to the hustle and bustle of an authentic street food market. “The design emphasis is on clean lines and eastern minimalism, utilising robust natural materials and a muted pallet that is peppered with the colours of the orient. Timber is celebrated and the signature diagonal tiling draws the Bang Bang brand into the architecture.” The exciting new hub will also be home to the stylish Golden Dragon flagship restaurant. The 300 cover restaurant will offer dim sum lunches with an extensive traditional Chinese menu in the evening. There will be four separate retail units on the mezzanine floor beside the community space, including Chinese massage and herbal medicine, and nail and beauty boutiques. There will also be indoor and outdoor spaces for community events, cookery classes, and cultural activities such as Lion dancing. The community spaces will be available for residents to hire for free for up to 60 hours a week. There will also be a children’s play area. ‘Bang Bang Oriental Food Hall’ translates as ‘Good Good Oriental Food Hall’ in Mandarin. Bang Bang Oriental is a green initiative so sustainability is important to the site. The venue will feature state-of-the-art technology such as a bio-fuel cylinder (costing £85K) which will collect food waste for energy regeneration, thus reducing carbon emissions. Award-winning architects Stiff + Trevillion are undertaking the transformation of the building and landscaped outdoor area. The design will fuse minimalism and oriental culture to create an iconic building within the local landscape. Stiff+Trevillion Architects has been established for over 30 years. Located in Westminster in a large open plan studio, they employ around 40 people. As well as architects they have interior designers and furniture designers on their team. They believe that this mix of talent and skills brings fresh thinking to both their interior and architectural projects with teamwork and idea sharing forming the cornerstone of the Stiff+Trevillion culture. The new 32,000 square foot architecturally stunning space is set to attract visitors from all over the world making it the ultimate North London destination.
