The Wonderful World of Lights ~ Richmond 2012 | Page 4

People celebrate Christmas differently all around the world, but here in America, we put up a Christmas tree and decorate our houses with garland and wreaths and lights. Surprisingly, in other parts of the world, Christmas is not celebrated in this jovial manner, but often with daily mandatory mass and a mass on Christmas day. To the new immigrants and the tourists, the lights are an incredible sight for them. Right now in our own country , America, many people are unemployed, and poverty is SO high that even a movie ticket costs more than many people can afford to pay, so these beautiful lights is a free way for them to receive something which is so rare these days: entertainment.

Those of us who can afford the small pleasures of life, take them, use them, and make them last for us as long as we can. Since it is the season to give, why not give to others? Give them the gift of beauty, in its most amazing form – Lights. Please, from all of us at Wonderful Winter Lights (WWL) put up your Christmas lights, and let the beauty shine. Will you take up the call to make your Christmas a more shiny place? Will you put up lights in your house?
