Brit took a position with Wired Production Group , based in Cedar Rapids . After four years – and many contract productions for TCR – he joined us as our full time master electrician . Megan , in addition to performing on area stages since relocating to Iowa ( Cabaret , Dance Nation , RTC ’ s Titanic , and more ), has become one of TCR ’ s most beloved choreographers and dance instructors .
Having two artists with so much experience in the Land of Oz has been an honor and a blessing .
In addition to owning the full electrical universe on stage , Brit brought TCR ’ s Oz his expertise on how to safely fly and has passed on endless knowledge and ideas about how to accomplish effects that both transport the audience and keep the actors and crew safe .
As choreographer , Megan worked hard to make the choreography her own creation , while throwing a few Easter egg nods to the tour into the mix .
“ This is a very different take on the show , whereas the goal of the tour was to give a true classic interpretation ,” said Megan . “ I think I ' ve brought a lot of knowledge of the inner workings of the show from a performer ' s perspective , such as making sure the Jitterbug was a high priority number to rehearse because of the stamina it requires .”
As we move beyond Oz to future productions , we are excited to continue to learn from and feature Brit and Megan ’ s talent and professional experience . But , most of all , we are inspired by their oddsdefeating , theatrical love story .
In Brit ’ s words : “ Nearly three years touring the nation China and Bahrain , a near-death accident while on tour , moving to a new place , starting a new job , having a covid marriage twice in 2020 , and experiencing a derecho , proves that we cannot be defeated in our Love .“
We ’ ll make sure to cover that “ near-death accident ” in a future installment !
