Wednesday, 6th November, 2013 The Winchelsea Star 9 Waurn Ponds to Winchelsea Wet weather continues to limit major earthworks and pavement construction activities. Work continued on construction of Buckley School Road and preparatory pavement works are underway on sections of the highway between Waltons Road and Buckley Road, and near Hendy Main Road. Pavement works to continue on the north side behind traffic barriers. Due to wet weather in October, progress of intersection pavement works at Olney Street and Barkly Street were limited. Work will continue at these intersections in November 2013. Changed traffic conditions including alternative access arrangements will be in place while works at intersections are carried out. Works to establish a scaffolding work platform on the eastern (Geelong side) arch of the bridge will commence shortly, subject to suitable weather. Water relocation works are now complete. Installation of electrical conduits for street lighting at a number of intersections is continuing. To ensure public safety during this process, there may be minor delays to pedestrians using the heritage bridge. Telstra relocation works have commenced on the north side of the highway and will continue on in November 2013. Winchelsea to Colac VicRoads is continuing to prepare for the Planning Scheme Amendment process. Bridgeworks: Installation of the reinforced earth walls is continuing and the remaining concrete piles have been driven into the ground as part of the foundation works for the bridge over the railway line at Buckley. Construction of the bridge abutments has commenced with the first concrete pour expected to commence in early November. Drainage works to commence shortly on the south side of the highway. Winchelsea Projects (Lennox Street to Deans Marsh Road including Barwon River bridge) Lennox Street to Austin Street: Stabilisation works associated with construction of pavement base layer were completed on the north side of the highway in October 2013. Winslow Constructors preparing road base for new Geelong bound carriageway Austin Street to Deans Marsh Road: Tenders were advertised on 9 October 2013, and will close on 13 November.
