Hatch ’ 08 is Named Board ’ s Vice Chairman

Hatch said , “ I am humbled and honored to serve the school that has given so much to me . Williamson is such a meaningful part of who I am and it is a privilege to give back in any way that I can . Working alongside our board of trustees and Williamson staff is a true honor . It ’ s an amazing group that ensures that Mr . Williamson ’ s vision is carried on to develop the world ’ s best tradesmen and most important , useful and respected members of society .”
Hatch , who grew up in Secane and attended Monsignor Bonner High School , got his first trade experience while a student working in his family ’ s plumbing and heating business . After graduating from high school , he enrolled in Williamson ’ s Power Plant Technology Program to get a hands-on education .
He said , “ Williamson was a good fit for me ; I feel honored and blessed to have been able to attend Williamson .”
While a student , he served as his class ’ treasurer and secretary . He received the Sons of the American Revolution ’ s Outstanding Citizenship Award as a junior and his senior year was inducted into the prestigious I . V . Club . At Commencement , he received the Thomas Gustave Furman ’ 79 Memorial Award for excellence in the mechanical field , the PECO Energy / Thomas M . Callahan ’ 79 Memorial Award for reflecting the values of Williamson , the Academic Honors Award for attaining a cumulative average of 3.5 or better , the Good Citizenship Award for receiving no disciplinary points in three years , and

His junior year , he began working on a bachelor ’ s degree in business administration evenings at Strayer University . When he graduated from Williamson , he only needed three classes to finish his degree . He then earned a bachelor ' s degree in business administration and a master of business administration at Penn State Great Valley .
He also completed a graduate certificate in engineering at Drexel University in 2020 and is now working towards a master ’ s degree in engineering at Drexel .
In 2015 he received the board ’ s C . W . Schrenk ’ 49 Young Alumnus Award .
Hatch began working at PJM Interconnection after graduating from Williamson . Over the years he has been a scheduling coordinator , generation dispatcher , power director , master dispatcher , and shift supervisor . He also has been a restoration coordinator , conducting drills in case of a blackout , and performs such projects as operations tools and awareness and operations power grid .
His service to Williamson includes serving on the Power Plant Program Advisory Committee , teaching a course on distribution and transmission system operations , and serving on the Young Alumni Advisory Council . He also serves as his class fund chairman and often helps the Office of Institutional Advancement with fund-raising efforts . He also is a Wanamaker Society member .
He lives in Broomall with his wife Courtney , a fourth grade teacher at Pennell Elementary School in Aston , and their daughter Abigail Marie who is two . They are members of St . Anastasia Parish in Newtown Square .

Hassel-Finnegan Becomes Board ’ s First Female Member

Continued from page 1 Heather brings extensive experience in vital areas such as governance , facilities maintenance , compliance , and operational / fiscal oversight to mention just a few .
“ Heather ’ s personal charitable ethos is ‘ paying it forward .’ Equally as important as Heather ’ s experience is her connection and understanding of Williamson . Her father , Brian Hassel Sr . 7W6 , brother , Brian Jr . 0W1 , and cousin , Jason 0W4 , are all Williamson alumni , and there are many other friends of Williamson in both her personal and professional life that she interacts with on a regular basis . In her current role as president / CEO of the Community ’ s Foundation she has also worked closely with Williamson staff and trustees .”
Hassel-Finnegan said , “ I have always felt that I was a part of the Williamson family . At age 16 , my father had a rule , if you lived in his house , then your car had to have a Williamson license plate on the front . Because of my license plate , I would get a friendly wave from most of the work trucks in Delaware County .
“ In recent years , I have had the pleasure of working with Williamson ’ s administration to establish TCF ’ s Career Pathways Scholarship Program which funds tools , books , supplies , and fees for students from low-income households .
“ I look forward to working closely with my fellow trustees to set policies and strategic plans that will allow Williamson to continue to flourish .”
TCF , located in Springfield , Pa ., is committed to enhancing and improving the quality of life in the community by awarding grants to local nonprofits , awarding scholarships to promising students , and connecting individuals who care with causes that matter .
Her many service and leadership roles include being a founding member of the City of Chester Giving Circle and Project W Women ’ s Giving Circle . Earlier , she served on the advisory council of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education ,
Swarthmore College ’ s Biology and Engineering Project Committee , the president and webmaster of the Behavioral Ecology Group , and an administrative fellow at the Turkana Basin Institute .
She also has been a youth field hockey and basketball coach and a volunteer with the Girl Scouts of America .
Her many awards include the Delaware County Master Gardeners ’ Blue Ribbon , the Girl Scouts of America ' s Gold Award , Juniata College ' s Leadership Award , Sightlines ' Collaboration , Innovation , and Rookie of the Year Awards , and the American Association of Physical Anthropologists ' Pollitzer Travel Award , Comas Student Research Prize , and Primate Interest Group Research Award .
She earned a bachelor of science degree , magna cum laude , in biology and anthropology at Juniata College , where she received a Leadership Award and was a Von Liebig Undergraduate Research Fellow , and a master ' s degree in anthropological science , magna cum laude , at SUNY Stony Brook , where she was a graduate fellow .
She is working on a professional certificate in museum studies at Northwestern University and has earned a Nonprofit Management Course Certificate at the LaSalle Nonproift Institute , a Charrettes & Design Thinking Certificate at Harvard University Graduate School of Design , and a Sustainability Professional Certificate at the International Society of Sustainability Professionals .
She has given numerous professional presentations and written for many professional publications . She was a laboratory instructor and coordinator at Swarthmore College , a teaching assistant and instructor at SUNY Stony Brook , and a laboratory instructor at Juniata College .
She lives in Folsom with her husband , Sean , and two children .
Board of Trustees ’ Awards
The board of trustees present the C . W . Schrenk 4W9 Young Alumnus Award and the Isaiah V . Williamson Award at the Founder ’ s Day ceremony .
The Young Alumnus Award is given to an alumnus of the last 15 years who has distinguished himself by making a substantial contribution to his profession and to society . The I . V . Williamson Award is given to a person who exemplifies in his or her life and work , the ideals of school founder Isaiah V . Williamson .
