Commencement : The Class of 2W2 was sent into the world as “ Williamson Men ” at the 129th Commencement with keynote speaker Joseph L . Wesley , the benefactor who donated $ 21.5 million for the construction of the Joseph L . and Marion M . Wesley Student Center and bleachers . ( See article on page 1 .)
Reunions : Over 130 alumni attended the Milestone Reunion to celebrate their 5- or 10-year reunion in June . Classes between the years of 1976-2017 , ending in 1 , 6 , 2 , or 7 , enjoyed a buffet and catching up with old friends at the Springfield Country Club .
Golf Outing : The 48th Golf Outing at the Paxon Hollow Golf Course had a capacity 144 golfers . The results were : 1st place - Brian Nowrey 8W3 , James Nowrey , Kris Johnson , Andrew Sekula ; 2nd place - Dave Marofsky 9W6 , Brian Zdun , Mark Meehan , Pat Gallagher 9W3 ; 3rd place - Lee Furlong 0W3 , Adam McNabb 0W1 , Joe Haragos , Steve Brogan ; Closest to Pin # 3 - Matt Piripavel 10 "; Closest to Pin # 4 - Anoy Sekula 7 ' 9 "; Closest to Pin # 18 - John Kubas 5 ' 6 "; Hole-in-One – Dave Dezzi 8W3 – Hole # 17 ; Hole-in- One – Nick Mast 1W5 – Hole # 1 .
Freshmen Arrive : The Class of 2W5 ’ s 124 members , the largest freshman class in school history , began their 1,000-day Williamson journey with the 4-day First Year Experience ( FYE ). FYE helps freshmen get used to Williamson ’ s structure , develop friendships , become aware of cultural differences , and gain self-confidence . It included diversity training , a community service project at the Brandywine Valley SPCA , and events designed to teach team work and leadership . It was followed by registration , orientation , and move-in day .
Service Week : Williamson demonstrated its core value of service by helping nearly 30 nonprofits during the fifth annual Service Week in May . Seniors and freshmen , faculty and staff , and some board members and alumni , provided four full days of service .
JLE : The entire junior class participated in the 9-day Junior Leadership Expedition ( JLE ). The class , broken up into small groups , combined camping and canoeing with leadership training . Faculty , staff , alumni , and personnel from CCO , the Coalition for Christian Outreach , took part . JLE is part of the 3-year Lenfest Leadership Program designed to improve leadership skills and create “ Williamson Men .”
