Ron Wildasin wrote,“ In early May I am venturing down to Arizona and taking a 6-day, 188-mile, whitewater raft trip on the Colorado River down through the Grand Canyon.” Good luck on your adventure, Ron.
As to my earlier email on your thoughts as to having a Williamson speaker at our Shady Maple luncheon, the few votes were 50 / 50 as to that idea with fellows very satisfied with Stacey’ s yearly update, but they were 100 percent as to the idea of inviting the wives of deceased classmates to our 50th reunion celebration held at Williamson.
Reminder as to Williamson Alumni Day in May— just sign in on the board out front so we can find each other.
Our next luncheon is Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017, at Shady Maple Smorgasbord Restaurant, Honey Brook, Lancaster County, Pa. It will be held from 11:30-3:30 and the totally inclusive cost is $ 17.00
Stay well, Ed Speer

Hi, Everyone,
I hope you all are doing well. I had a nice conversation with Gary and Sandy Hoffman from Spring Grove, Pa. Gary is semi-retired, but still working his business as a carpenter. That’ s great. They have two grown children and two grandsons five- and six-years-old. They would like to reconnect with Norm Yeager and Larry Holley. Their phone # is 717-225- 1331.
The school continues to make progress on the new dormitory and will be expanding the dining room. All the best to you all.

Come on spring!
Hope everyone survived the winter and those of us in the northeast made it through blizzard“ Stella.” We dug out at our house 30 inches of snow and were very glad the power stayed on. It’ s the biggest storm we’ ve had in years and the skiers in our family loved it. The ski slopes are still open the first week of April. But it’ s good to see the warmer weather starting to settle in.
I’ ve heard great news about Ted Daniels. Ted’ s doctors have told him he is now cancer free. Ted wants everyone to please do not take life for granted and thanks everyone for their concerns and prayers. His wife Tammy has been his rock all through his battle.
On a Saturday morning in March, I received a very welcome call from my roommate Craig Beaver. Craig is doing well and is looking at retirement. He has a cabin up near Montrose, Pa., and we hope to hook up on one of his trips passing through this way.
I also received a call from Gary Fields. He is on a committee for our 50th high school reunion at Penncrest High School, near Williamson. Gary and I both graduated from there in 1967. It doesn’ t seem like 50 years since our high school days. These days, who can remember that far back?
So, remembering that in three more years we’ ll be hitting our 50th year since graduating from Williamson and hope we can have a great get-together for our 50th reunion. If you have any ideas or plans that we can have to try and raise the traditional class gift, please let me know and I will work on trying to get something started.
Remember to keep in touch and let me know how you are doing or if you have heard any news about our classmates and I’ ll pass it along. Have a great summer, take care, and God bless!

We had a good get together at the Alumni B & B and we were all surprised to see Bob Peterson. I haven’ t seen Bob since graduation and we all were glad to see him. Bob lives in Mountain Top, and is retired. He spends much of his time collecting and restoring muscle cars.
I talked with Bob Wickline. He still works in Harrisburg in the state’ s Nuclear Permit Department. He lives in Philly and commutes by train to Harrisburg every day. Bob did say he was at the point that he was deciding whether or not to keep up that pace.
Ed and Carol Wanyo drove down for the evening. Carol took pictures all night and posted them on our Facebook site so thanks Carol, we all appreciated it. Ed had a bad fall a few years ago from a scaffold that retired him. One thing for sure, he hasn’ t changed a bit. Over the years he served on the school board still working as a mason. We keep in touch through Facebook now.
We saw Chris and Dot Freeman. Chris is retired and spends time at Rehobeth Beach. He said during the winter maybe one week a month and as soon as the weather breaks all summer.
It was good to see Bob and Ann Melick. Bob said he has cut way back on work and only works about 50 hours a week. He still does remodeling and flips a building in between jobs.
Bob and Bob Peterson started talking muscle cars and Barracudas, so who knows what that will end up like. They both are still muscle car owners and Bob Melick still has his Cuda from back in the day.
Phil Massmini has been keeping up with goings on at the school and keeps the Facebook page up to date. So we keep in touch.
I talked to Gino. He is still working full-time and will be at Alumni Day. I also talked with Glenn Bechtel. He was batching it for a couple weeks while Janis was in Italy. He still keeps his hand is locksmithing between his time at Rehobeth Beach and Kutztown. Russ Thrayer dropped me a note and he is on my call list for the next time.
Overall it was a good winter get-together and we got to see some more 7W1ers. I am still gathering names and phone numbers and I will send everyone what I have so far soon. Maybe some of you can contact each other then get the info to me. I sent a letter to everyone not on the internet so if you didn’ t receive one call me.
I just got word that Russ Gibbons, one of our classmates, died on May 29.

Greetings to my 7W2 brothers from Ft. Myers Beach, Fla. I am writing these notes during
the last week of March 2017. By the time you receive these notes, I’ m sure you will be starting to enjoy those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer. Diana and I have been enjoying our first full winter season of retirement in Florida. What a winter it has been, sunny and 80 degrees every day. It has been an unseasonably warm winter in Florida, however, with only two days of moderate rain since Dec. 14, SW Florida is under drought conditions. We have enjoyed long walks, long bike rides, and / or kayaking on a daily basis. We’ ve attended spring training baseball games in Sarasota( Orioles), Clearwater( Phillies), and right here at home in Ft. Myers to watch the Red Sox and Twins. I think I can get used to this retirement thing.
You may recall that in my notes last spring, I reported that one of our senior brickies, Ted Daniels, was having some health challenges. Well, I’ m happy to report that I learned recently that Ted is cancer free. God is good! God bless you, Ted.
In February, I learned via Facebook that Jerry Newswanger’ s father passed away. Please keep Jerry and his family in your thoughts and prayers. On a happier note, Jerry recently posted a picture of himself and Dick Yuengling on Facebook. Yes, that Dick Yuengling, the gentleman who owns the Yuengling Brewery in Pottsville, Pa. I vividly remember my first Yuengling around 1976 or 1977. I was studying at Penn State University when I ran into John Bonchalk, a 6W8 brickie, in one of my classes. John came over to my place for dinner one night and introduced me to Yuengling. John, being a native of Pottsville, thought it appropriate to bring a beverage from his hometown. Thanks a lot, John, I’ ll never forget that day you introduced me to Yuengling.
I’ m sorry to report that Irene Morse’ s daughter, Cindy, passed away on Jan. 13, 2017. Cindy was only 61 years young when she passed away from early onset Alzheimer’ s that started when she was only 54 years young. If you don’ t remember Irene from my previous notes, let me remind you. Irene was one of the nice ladies who served us those nutritious meals at Willy. Please keep Irene and her other daughter, Susan, in your thoughts and prayers.
I’ ve been informed that our 45th reunion is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 14, from 5 to 8 p. m. at Barnaby’ s Aston, 5501 Pennell Rd., Media, Pa. Watch your mail for information regarding our 45th reunion. I did learn that the Williamson reunions have taken on a more casual approach as far as dress is concerned. You may now show up after the football game dressed as you are. You may wear your khaki’ s and a polo shirt, or you may come dressed in shirt, tie, and sport coat. Bottom line: we want you to show up at the reunion so it doesn’ t matter what you are wearing. Additionally, I would like to reserve a block of rooms so we can enjoy breakfast together the next morning. If this is something that interests you, please send me an email so I can get a head count.
Bob and Jane Hopkins represented the 7W2 class at the Philadelphia Flower Show in mid- March. Williamson’ s display,“ The Other Side of Holland,” was recognized with two awards. I’ m sure you can read more about Williamson’ s display, elsewhere in this edition of the Willamsonian. Bob said that he spoke to two seniors standing at the Williamson display, and he was impressed with their knowledge and professionalism.
I see on Facebook that Warren Hunter is alive and well. Bill Fisher reported to me last year that Warren had suffered a severe heart attack, but Bill had no further information on Warren’ s condition. I’ m sure I speak for our classmates in wishing Warren well and many blessings for a complete recovery.
I recently received an invitation to attend and participate in Bob Fletcher’ s annual wine making and bottling event. One day a year,
Bob takes on the persona of an Italian wine maker and even changes his name to Roberto Fletcherini. Good luck with this annual tradition, Fletch. Ciao! My roommate, Fletch, also called me the other day from Tampa, where he was attending a business event. He wanted to visit with me in Ft. Myers, however, due to the 3-hour distance and his limited time, that didn’ t work out.
I see Bill Grimm and John Koenigsberg on Facebook. Bill still maintains the same sense of humor he had at Willy. John proudly displays his’ 57 Chevy. John has an older Corvette for sale, if you are interested. You can Friend John on Facebook for the details. If you guys send me your contact information( that goes for all of the 7W2 class), I can put your information out to the entire class.
Today, I got an email from Ed Hatchigian, 6W0 class rep. In his email, Ed told me that the fire tower at Williamson will be torn down shortly to make way for the expansion of the dining room and chapel. Ed said that the fire tower was built by the brickies of 6W0 and 6W1. The current dining room can serve about 220 students, which doesn’ t allow the entire student body to eat at one time. The new expansion will increase the capacity to 330 students. A generous gift from Mrs. Henry Rowan provided the funds to complete this project. How fortunate is Williamson to have the blessings of gifts from the Rowan family. As an aside, I suggested to Ed that the bricks from the fire tower be sold as a fund raiser.
Author Robert Carr has published a new book, Working Class to College- The Promise and Peril Facing Blue Collar America, in which he praises Williamson’ s unique style of education. Fortunately for us, we recognized the benefits of a Williamson education when we graduated in 1972. Now, the rest of the world is hearing about us.
Alumni Day is Saturday, June 3, when the new Watson Dorm is expected to be completed. NOTE: Mark your calendars for Saturday, Oct. 14, our 45th year of graduating from the finest trade school in the world. Also, send me your email and cell number so I can create a data base for our class. Remember, as class rep, I try to keep you posted on our classmates. I can not do this without your communication. Until next time, take care and God Bless!

Gentlemen,
I apologize for missing the winter issue. I just completely forgot and missed the deadline. It is March and we have had some great weather, but a blizzard is due to hit in 24 hours and as a facilities guy, snow can be such a pain.
I do not have any news to report from the class so I will be brief. Our 45th reunion is right around the corner. Hopefully, we can get together then and share some stories. It has been a long time since our last reunion and it would be great to see everyone. Please take a moment and send me an email about how things are going. That’ s all for now, I am off to make sure our snow removal equipment is ready to go.
