nominees. Also worth noting, sports statistics were not really kept from our day, and so Brian and I had to submit all the stats and details to Dale for comparison and consideration against other candidates.
From Brian: I was thrilled to have Mas and Scrounge come to West Virgina to watch the game and celebrate a Philly championship at my home. We missed Hag and Jack, but understand that complications sometimes arise. We shared good food and drink, and the happiness that only old friends can provide. We cheered wildly with every big play along with my wife Sue and a couple other friends. Each touchdown led to sofa brawls that took me right back to Longstreth cottage where we watched the Flyers competing for the Stanley Cup, and had the same euphoric brawls. Speaking of sports, I got a phone call from Williamson and apparently Denny Ohl and I are to be inducted into the Williamson Sports Hall of Fame. We both are grateful to be included and honored to share a place with Williamson’ s top athletes. None of this would have been possible without the efforts of our trusted class rep Rick Caputo and his diligence. Thank you so much my friend and congratulations, Denny. You certainly deserve it for your impressive sports career at Williamson.
From Mas: Hi all, I can’ t say there’ s a whole lot going on up here in cold, snowy Central PA. It’ s been a long winter and I’ m so looking forward to it being over. Other than playing indoor simulated golf with my brothers once a week and visiting with my sister I’ ve pretty much been a homebody. How about those Eagles!!! Rick and I are planning a vacation to Hawaii in May and plan on visiting with Vince for a day while we’ re there. Sadly, I lost my dog to cancer back in October. She had been with me for 15 1 / 2 years and I miss her dearly. She was a great dog, a loyal companion to me, and my sidekick for a lot of great adventures. Health wise, I’ ve had some slight increases in my PSA level and remain on hormone treatment for now, but otherwise am doing well. Stay healthy my brothers.
From Ken Taylor: All is well here in Eastern Florida. If anyone gets down there, please reach out. Would love to show you around Sebastian. Planning on going to the West Coast of Florida to attend the“ Williamson is Visiting Florida” event. Be nice to see the Phillies in spring training.
From Don Dzedzy: Happy New Year. All good here, we had a grandson in October, Ben. He’ s number six. Meg and I are planning a short trip to Florida to see the Phillies and a stop at Hilton Head for golf. Also, this summer we are going to Yellowstone for two weeks. I am still active at Williamson with the Mentoring Program; it’ s still fun to deal with the kids. Talked to Ed Coupe and Bob Righter, both doing well. Best of luck to everyone.

From Hag: Well, it’ s been a real winter here this round. Except for a handful of days, we’ ve had snow cover since before Thanksgiving, and a number of below zero days. After decades of having to get up and go to work outside this time of year, winter’ s not so bad anymore. Can sleep in, start slow, and take all day to do what I used to have to get done at the end of the day. Everyone’ s healthy on this end, and hunkered down for the winter. I still manage to get a little crosscountry skiing in, and it’ s the right time of year to take care of cut’ n next winter’ s firewood, so life is good in the PA boonies. The trifecta now is Healthy, Happy, and Home, and we’ re managing to score on all three. Current highlight presently- the Ig’ s winning the bowl. At the beginning of the season, never thought that was gonna happen. GO IGs! Stay well, fellow 7W4’ mates, and be sure to holler if you plan to be in the area.
Also, I spoke to Gary Marlin and he is doing well and his health is moving in the right direction. Told me he went from scans every three months to six months. His family is also doing well. We both talked about how much fun we had last year at Hag’ s reunion and how Gary’ s stories were the highlight of the weekend. Great laughs, Gary; can’ t wait until the next one.
And I messaged with Vince Mina who spent Super Bowl weekend at the Bellagio in Vegas. Vince, see you in May. I spoke with Big George Else who had back surgery in December and had two rods put in, bone graphs, etc. He told me end of January in would be a few months before he was back, but the good news is he is in remission and doing well on the cancer end. And, finally, I spoke with Kenny Browne who lost his beautiful loving wife Maria Dec. 19, 2024 after a long battle with cancer. Maria was at a few of our earlier reunions and I got to know her as a very caring person who loved Ken more than anything. Ken, our hearts go out to you.

Classmates,
Happy New Year! It is great that we will be celebrating our 7W5 50th Class Reunion this spring! Our Reunion Committee( Rex, Tomlinson, and myself) have been busy contacting classmates in an attempt to ensure a banner turnout for Alumni Day and the reunion. I’ m sure everyone will have a great time!
John Rex attended the Cornhole Tournament on Jan. 1, 2025. I didn’ t go this time. I don’ t know if Dennis Hull went.
I’ m anticipating that Al Gaspari and Scott Shattuck will be participating in

this year’ s Annual George Patton Golf Outing. Al and Scott told me they are both avid golfers and pretty darn good at it. Al gets out two or three times a week.
On Feb. 6, 2025, I will be attending the Founder’ s Day ceremony. John Rex, Phil Staurowsky, and Al Gaspari also intend to be there. I’ m looking forward to seeing them again. Phil and I attended once before in 2013 and John Rex told me he’ s attended many over the years. This time four of us on the Affiliate Committee will be there to show 7W5’ s support for the 2W5 class members. Glenn Tomlinson, who is also a member of the committee, let me know that he will be unable to attend.
Dan McCarthy gave me a call recently. Dan and I were roommates in our junior and senior years. John Marquardt joined us during our senior year. Dan and his wife, Mary, have been busy renovating their vacation home in Cape May Court House, N. J. He is doing OK getting along with the aches and pains that most of us are experiencing at this age. Dan is not planning to attend the reunion, but I do hope he changes his mind, then he won’ t miss out on having a great time with all who attend. Look for his profile and photo in the fall edition of The Williamsonian.
On Oct. 19, I heard from Scott Shattuck:“ Had a great time at Homecoming. The only classmate I saw was Glenn Tomlinson. I hoped the turnout would have been better, but considering we’ re getting up there in age that’ s not always possible. The change in campus was phenomenal. The weightroom was crazy and absolutely amazing. Visited the power plant and saw a bunch of young guys in the control room. Ha, ha ha! Anyway, I had a great time. I was looking for my roomy, Vince Palilla. I’ m not sure if he’ s still around.” Scott, I presume he’ s still roaming around Indiana, Pa.
On Jan. 1, Vince sent John Rex and me the following:“ Good morning, guys, and Happy New Year’ s! Please accept my sincere apology for not getting back to you sooner. It was really great to hear your voices when you called. It brought back a flood of so many good memories. It has been a few bad years for us. My wife had a series of falls last year leaving her somewhat mentally and physically handicapped. She has come a long way back, but it has changed life for us in ways I never anticipated. For the past few months we have been in the process of downsizing( 50 years of marriage and gathering makes for a lot of‘ stuff’) and packing to move to Washington County near my son and his family. Expected move is end of January. I plan on making a contribution to our class fund, just need to get my finances in order after we settle in. I plan on attending our reunion. My son agreed to have my wife stay with his family a couple of days while I’ m with you guys. Also, I hope to, with your permission, at some point to start replying to the entire email group

you created and start getting in touch with some of the guys. Hope to see all of you in April.” Vince, wishing you and your wife well. It will be great to see you and so many of the guys again.
Mike Natale and Helene were at Homecoming and sent me this:“ Helene and I went. Security checks out at the front gate before entering. Our purpose was to go to the School Store and replace my Williamson fleece jacket that I lost. Parking was tough. I had to park my truck on the grass( hoping I would not get a week and four). We got my jacket and left. So many new buildings.” I’ ve been there since. Your name is on the board showing you got a week and eight for leaving the scene of the crime. You’ ll be working with me again at ground’ s duty.
Al Gaspari and I spoke prior to Alumni Day in 2024. He later sent me this:“ I went to Alumni Day and was very impressed with the campus, especially the Wesley Student Center. I saw Glen Tomlinson and Bob McNabb 7W3. I hope to see a bunch of classmates next year. I’ m living in East Nantmeal, Chester County, Pa., with my wife( second) of 12 years, Allison. My four sons are all doing great with my oldest, Al Jr., living in San Rafael, Calif., with my two grandsons. I’ m heading out there for Christmas to do some skiing in Tahoe. I have two other grandchildren that live locally with my son Andy in the Exton area. My other two sons live in the area. I keep pretty active since being retired for five years now. Cycling, golfing, and fishing keep me pretty busy. My wife and I enjoy traveling and she’ s still working. We’ re going to Europe next summer for a river cruise on the Rhine River from Switzerland to Amsterdam through Germany. I had two hip replacements a few years ago. Best thing I did. They’ re new, everything else is old. If anybody wants to get together for a round of golf, let me know. My email address is algaspari22 @ gmail. com.” Great stuff, Al, and glad to hear you were on campus again. That is all for now. I’ m sure I will have much more to report in the next Williamsonian. I hope to see all of you at Alumni Day and our 50th Class Reunion!

Do you still have your yearbook? When is the last time you looked through it? It never gets old. At the last Christmas dinner at the Jordan home we did just that. Not just our yearbook, but one from the year prior. Hairstyles
