second great-grandchild. Praise God. God bless you and Marsha. Thanks for being the leader of 6W5.
Please mark your calendars for Oct. 14, 2025, at noon for the Alumni Luncheon at the Shady Maple, East Earl, Pa., to gather with alumni of all ages.
Fellas, as I close, and like Rosie, you too probably flip to my 6W5 article in The Williamsonian to see what’ s going on with your classmates and how they are doing. That is the only connection we really have, and we do want to hear from you. Please send me any news you would like me to share with our class in The Williamsonian.
Best regards, Dick, C-13

For all you fellows in Florida, how did you like this past winter? The cold is something that sticks with you and doesn’ t let go. I guess by the time you read this, it will be nice and cozy again and everything will be back to normal.
Same old story, I haven’ t heard from anyone other that Ron Clark and my old roommate Pat.
I’ m writing this on my 78th birthday. Where has the time gone?
I’ m getting a text from school that Williamson is visiting Florida for Phillies Spring Training. It seems to me some of you got together last year and did the same thing. Hope it stays warm for yo’ all’ s sake.
Go Eagles! They are going to win Super Bowl 59 tomorrow! [ Editor’ s Note: They won 40-20! Go Birds!]

Hello gentlemen,
Thank you to our classmates who have sent me their news. I have compiled them as they were sent to me.
I had given Lew Brubaker a phone call right around New Year’ s as I was aware of some health issues that Lew was having. Lew sent me the following email on Jan 4.“ Hello, Ed, Thank you for your call last week about my recovery. I was in Pittsburgh Liver Cancer Hospital for two weeks, where they removed 70 % of my liver. Told me that the remaining part would regenerate to full size within several months. I find that amazing! Had three weeks in rehab, now I am at home. Recovering much faster. At home, cannot walk without a walker. I have no strength. I am exhausted all the time. Doctors say after I get stronger I will need chemotherapy again. But

they say it will be several months before things would be normal. So that is all I know. I was never a patient person, but this slow recovery is making me more patient. I was surprised to see how many friends I have, and the number of people who are praying for me is overwhelming. Life is short, we must enjoy it and pass on the love of Christ when we can. God bless you. Lew”
I did give Lew another call later in January and Lew sent me the following:“ Thank you, Ed, for your call. To answer your questions, I am at home and my wife is my nurse. I have home nursing here three days a week. Last week I was back in Pittsburgh and had three liters of fluid drained off my body. That made me feel a lot better. The doctors and nurses all say that I am doing good. I am seeing my chemotherapy doctor next week, then I will know what is going to be the next step in my treatment. I see the surgeon once a month for a follow up. I will let you know what is going on sooner next time. I have lost a year out of my life! But, then again, I am still here and may have years ahead of me, Lord willing. I enjoy hearing from any of my 6W8 classmates. It takes me back to my Williamson days, which were the very best years of my life. Oh, thank God for our memories, these days when I can only sit in a chair and think and read, my memories of Williamson come back to me and make me smile. God bless you and keep you safe till we meet again. Lew”

Ron Wildasin writes,“ All is well in Wisconsin. New siding going on my house in cold January. Sounds crazy, but when the high temperatures are below 20F, the crew normally skips a day. Hardy people out here. You will have more snow in your storm than we have had all season so far. Strange weather. Ron”
On Jan. 17, Marge and Fran Monahan sent me the following.“ All I can say is“ we’ re old” so nothing new with us. Lots of things going on with our kids and grandkids, but I don’ t think it would interest the Class of 6W8. Ha! Ha! I am getting a new knee next week. Again, that’ s not of interest either. How are you and Agnes doing? Have you lost any more toes? I hope not. Fran is in great health. He traded his’ 32 Dodge for a’ 39 Ford. Blessings, Marge”
Tom Turnbaugh sent me the following note.“ Hope you are well! I have been on the Authority Board of the local CTC for several years and was recently elected president. We have been discussing a needed student-driven renovation to the building and some Authority Board members have expressed concern about the proposed tax impact

Class of’ 68 Meets at Shady Maple The Class of 6W8 again had a great turnout for their annual class luncheon at the Shady Maple Restaurant in East Earl, Pa., on Oct. 16. The closeknit class, continues to have a high give back rate of 74 %. Pictured on the floor( left to right) are Jack Burns, Ron Wildasin, Stacy Starr, Barry“ Boss Man” Lengle, and Dan Maslanik. Seated( left to right) are Jim Thomas, Dan Smith, Gene“ Duke” Locker, Steve Shedlock, Joe“ Pogo” Shulkitas, George“ Smiles” Miles, Dale Laubenstein, and Ed Speer. on the local districts already carrying significant debt due to home district projects ranging from new buildings to new sports complexes. Our new director at the CTC and I have discussed the best way to approach this issue to ensure that a lot of work does not go into renovation planning that may not be supported at the home schools due to costs. In some ways, funding for vocational / technical education has always been an uphill battle. Hopefully, we will get the local support we need to move forward. It’ s that time of year again and I have been in tax training for the last month. We begin to file returns at the Lebanon Senior Center beginning February. Of all my volunteer activities since I retired, this is the most humbling experience I have. It reinforces how blessed we all were to have had our Williamson education leading to the good jobs we held. Hopefully, for all of us, this had resulted in financial stability during our retirements. As a contrast, last year I completed a return for a client who had a total of $ 10,000 income. Makes me want to say thank you, God, for what I have! Last but not least, Marianne and I got married in 2024. We have been together a long time and we are both thankful that our relationship has lasted this long. Tom”
Good to hear from George Miles who says,“ Hi, Ed, hope all is well with you and your family. Greetings from frigid and snowy LSD, the weather is upside down here. Not much to report since our October luncheon. My oldest grandson that is working on his Ph. D. in marine sciences at Tennessee Tech just announced his engagement and plans to marry this October. His younger brother just graduated in January from Monmouth and is now
heading to Hawaii to stay warm. The other four grandkids are still continuing their studies and / or working in the Delaware / Chester County areas. The youngest grandson will be graduating from Williamson’ s electrical program this May and has several work offers from electrical contractors to choose from. I just had to have a total shoulder replacement and have added to my collection of Titanium replacement parts and can’ t get through TSA security. Best Regards, Geo”
My roomie, Dan Smith sent the following.“ Enduring the cold here. Planning to go skiing mid-February up in Michigan. I don’ t care how much skiing I get in but getting away to north country is what I look forward to with my Kamikaze buddies. On the dating scene, I have deleted all of the dating sites and am focusing on a lady that is 22 miles from me. She likes music as much as I do. I get together with my local group for socialization. We are widowed, divorced, married, etc. and average anywhere from 10 to 20 people. We drink, eat, and try to learn things about our phones that dominate our calendar and lives and some stuff we can’ t figure out by ourselves. We share information and laugh a lot. Some things I don’ t want to know or learn. I did use my snow blower once, so far. I am still feeding the birds and put a heated bird bath out this year( wild birds unlimited). Can’ t believe all the water that they drink. The squirrels also drink out of it. Well, that’ s about it for now. Dan Smith”
Our buddy Stacy Starr wrote the following.“ Hi, Ed. The only thing outstanding is waiting for our new greatgranddaughter, due in March. She will be the first. Stacy”
It was a pleasure to get a note from
