Well, that’ s all the news for now. Hope I didn’ t forget anyone. I encourage you all to stay in touch. I look forward to hearing from each of you. Our ranks are thinning as we are now 23 classmates living from our original 47 who graduated. More important than ever to stay in touch.
My very best to all of you. Wishing each of you and your spouse good health and much happiness in 2025.
Your faithful and serving classmate, Edward Hatchigian 6W0

Shady Maple Alumni Luncheon Held

Greetings 6W0 Classmates,
I can’ t believe its time for another class article for The Williamsonian. Our editor, Carl Vairo is always patient with me. It seems I’ m late again. I think I have surpassed a new record. This is my 65th consecutive year of submitting our class’ Williamsonian article. I know it’ s a record. I’ m proud and glad to assume this obligation.
Last month Leah honored several of our classmates with a wonderful dinner at our home. Bob and Mary Ellen and Barb Smith. Also invited were Bill and Emma Seibert 6W2. Of course, it was hosted by Leah and me. Also invited were John“ Bill” and Sara Linker. We all had a great evening together with many laughs. Grateful to hostess Leah and her culinary skills.
Recently I sent a letter to each of you regarding Alumni Day this year. I’ m well aware many classmates have physical and health limitations. While it’ s still early yet, just the Berwagers and Leah and I have signed on. Thanks to Barb Riley, Carroll Mummert, Gerald Friday, Jim Davis, and Hackett for responding with their regrets. I’ m still hopeful others will attend. This may be our last chance to meet again as a class. Sixtyfive years since graduation has kept our class together. Remember at our grand 50th reunion we were able to gather an attendance of 83 % for our 3-day celebration. I believe that is a school record we all are very proud of. You may still receive other mailings from the school. Hopefully, others will sign on to attend our 65th anniversary gathering on Alumni Day 2025.
While asking for class news I heard from a couple of classmates. Don Clapper gave the following text.“ Thanks for all the work you do. We are doing fine with old age things, but praise the Lord for his goodness. Our family is increasing every year. Now we have 49 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren and more coming. I still do cabinet work and other things. Carol is busy making baby quilts. Still preach, occasionally. Thankful for the education I received at Williamson. Taught me to respect authority. Don 6W0”
Andy Keller wrote,“ Not much news from Charlottesville, Va. I have Parkinsons and can’ t drive after the sun goes down. Only drive in the daylight. Just another sign of getting old. Take care and say hello to Leah. Andy, 6W0”

Charlie Echard has decided to volunteer some of his spare time by aiding others who may need a helping hand- following in the footsteps of Isaiah Williamson! Currently, he is offering the knowledge he has accumulated over his lifetime to those in northern Florida near Jacksonville. He helps guide these people through everyday chores and situations that may challenge their thought processes.
Charlie has asked Charlie Covington if he would vouch for his integrity on the application as a personal reference. Covington agreed with no reservations.
Health becomes an important issue as we age. In many cases technology is trying to keep up with what father time is taking away. Wayne Swinehart recently discovered that his pacemaker needed to be reprogrammed. Not too long ago this technology was not available to keep us ticking as it is today. A lot of our friends are receiving knee and hip replacements which make us more mobile than past generations.
Ed Sebring has decided to sell his home on the Susquehanna and live fulltime at his home in Chatham on Cape Cod. He has found space to park his cars and boat on Cape Cod. His son, Ed Jr., provides a place to park himself in the heart of winter in North Carolina. He has all the bases covered. Ed is the first of our classmates to receive two knee replacements.
Charlie Covington has also had two knee replacements plus a hip replacement. Let’ s not forget about the shoulder injury that has not completely disappeared. However, Charlie still maintains an active lifestyle with daily exercise and good meals both at home and various restaurants with family and friends. Day trips and short getaways are still his purview.
After graduating from Williamson, Stanley Briggs went to Ohio for a job interview with Bailey Meter. He took the job and eventually started his own business. Ohio must have suited him because he is still there managing his instrumentation business.
The ever popular Shady Maple Alumni Luncheon in East Earl, Pa., was held on Oct. 15. There was a large turnout of alumni from many classes. The luncheon was coordinated by Richard Dunlap 6W5 and included a tribute to the late Ron Richardson 5W4, who hosted the event for many years. The event included an all-you-can-eat luncheon buffet, much socializing, and some prizes. President Michael Rounds gave an update on some of the college’ s major initiatives and projects; Laura Brown, director of alumni relations, shared a brief update on alumni events; and Rev. Dr. Mark Specht 7W7, chaplain, closed the event with a prayer followed by the singing of the Alma Mater. Members of Richardson’ s family present were his wife, Alke, son, Craig, and granddaughter, Madeline. Plan to join us for the next Shady Maple Alumni Luncheon next fall on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025. For more information, please contact Laura Brown, director of alumni relations, at 610-566-1776, ext. 420, or lbrown @ williamson. edu.
We caught Bob Slade just after he and his wife came back from their power walk. They are looking forward to warmer weather which will make their outside exercise more comfortable. Bob is calculating the topsoil and seed it will take to get his lawn back to where he wants it. Then it is boating time again!
Dave Miller is keeping busy with maintaining his property after the winter took its toll. He just signed the application for the Williamson golf tournament. The 6W1 class participation is dwindling. Father Time is catching up with us.
I grew up on Old Middletown Road, which is a stone’ s throw from Williamson’ s campus. On that road is the Wayside Market where I worked as a preteen and a teenager. The owners were the Sydnors. Little did I know the Syndors were relatives of my soon-to-be Williamson roommate, Charlie Covington. Across the street was the Roosevelt Elementary School which is now the Middletown Historical society and Library. The society invited Charlie and me to tour the facility and be part of a news article about the neighborhood. You never know when things nearly forgotten come back to reward us!
Covington had a nice conversation with Jeff Long. Jeff is still volunteering at the local fire station and is enjoying life in Pine Grove, Pa. He and his wife have always enjoyed dancing and other local events. Social activities and exercise are great for us as we age!
For some reason we have lost track of the whereabouts of John Korab and John Spiess. If anyone has a phone number please pass it on to Charlie
Covington at 302-383-4286.

Hello Geezers!
I hope all of you are doing well or at least the best you can! It was in the low 80s here in Central Florida today, Feb 6th, and I took a 10-mile bike ride. I try to get out on the bike a few times per week. The land is flat so riding is not difficult. Traffic is a different story. I drove up to Madison, Ga., last weekend to the Peach Meet. The Peach Meet is a gathering of mid-west Tool Collectors Assn. regional members. This is a group of people who love to collect old tools. We display, sell, and trade these old relics and have a good time doing it. Maybe that would interest some of you. If so, Google the name or contact me for info.
Our class has been very quiet this past quarter and I’ ve heard from only a couple of you. Melvin Sheuing called me to share that his wife passed away just after Christmas, on Dec. 28, 2024. He is another good man who took care of an ailing wife through a long illness. We spoke for a while and he recounted some of his work history with Armstrong Carpet. Mel told me he has three sons and three daughters-in-law. One of his boys is the pastor of his church. Keep Mel in your thoughts and prayers!
I connected with Dick Storm who is never short of good news about his family. He wrote the following to me recent-
