Pennsylvania Williamson License Plates Now Available !

Williamson is pleased to offer Pennsylvania specialty license plates in the school colors of blue , red , and yellow , to alumni and students of Williamson College of the Trades .
The standard Williamson plate is available for $ 40.00 . This fee includes the PennDOT registration fee , the Pennsylvania Correctional Industries plate manufacturing fee , and a nominal school fee ($ 6.00 ) to off-set program costs . Williamson “ vanity ” plates may also be ordered for $ 152 .

Completed applications and checks made payable to “ Williamson College of the Trades ” may be mailed to : Williamson College of the Trades ATTN : Laura Brown , Director of Alumni Relations 106 S . New Middletown Rd . Media , PA 19063
After your application is received , it will be forwarded to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation by Williamson ’ s Advancement Office .
License plate order forms are batched , processed , and mailed to PennDOT at the end of each month . You should receive your Williamson plate in 8-10 weeks following the submission of the form to PennDOT .

Record-Breaking Career Fair Held
A new attendance record was set when 141 companies sent representatives to the 2-day spring Career Fair in March .
Margaret “ Weemie ” Kingham , fair coordinator , said “ This Career Fair was the largest we ’ ve ever had and was a huge success . All of the companies had positions to fill and were there to hire Williamson students . Many of our seniors received two , three , and even four job offers . For many , their main problem is deciding which offer is the right one for them . If a student graduates from Williamson without having found a job , it is either because they can ’ t make up their mind which position to take or they need some time off before beginning their careers .
“ Companies need employees because business is booming in the trades . We actually had to turn several companies away because we ran out of space .”
She said each of Williamson ’ s trades were well represented and there were even some companies with electrical positions to fill even though Williamson ’ s electrical program won ’ t begin until the fall of 2022 .
Kingham said something that was different this time was that about half of the seniors already had found their jobs before the Career Fair began . Most of them found their positions after attending the Career Fair in November .
The fairs attracted many first-time companies and many alumni were there as company representatives .
The fair was divided into two days so each company could have more room to provide social distancing during the pandemic and to make it easier for students and representatives to talk .
The next Career Fair will be another 2-day fair on Nov . 8 and 9 , 2022 , in the Restall Sports Center .

26 Inducted Into PTK Honor Society
Twenty-six students were inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa ( PTK ) Honor Society in the Clara Schrenk Memorial Chapel on April 21st .
Inductees were , from the Class of 2W2 : Ryan Fallon , Matthew Hennessy , Dennis McElhone , James Openshaw , Raymere Stewart , Aaron Tallman , and Colin Weber .
The Class of 2W3 : James Basler , Christopher Boc , Jacob Fallon , Ian Hampton , Brandon Jessup , Deonte Jones , Nicholas Lafazia , James Mack , Joshua McMahon , Matteo Scalfaro , Keith Shoenberger .
The Class of 2W4 : Michael Herbert , Elijah Kyle , Carlos Lugardo , Christopher Meiklejohn , William Mott , Steven Torres , Patrick Welsh , Alexander Whiteman .
In his welcoming remarks , President Michael Rounds said the honor society was brought to Williamson in 2018 by Dr . Samuel Wrightson , who was the vice president of education from 2015-20 , and his wife Mady . “ PTK was founded in 1918 to recognize academic achievement , leadership , and service at associate degree-granting colleges and has grown to be the nation ’ s largest honor society . We are proud to have Williamson be a part of this great organization that stresses excellence and service , two of our five core values .”
Chaplain Mark Specht 7W7 gave the invocation and Olivia Martinez , associate vice president of academic affairs , introduced Wrightson , the keynote speaker . “ Dr . Wrightson graduated from West Point , had a long , distinguished career in the Army in special forces , and then had a long career in education ”
Wrightson told the inductees that the reasons for joining PTK are recognition , leadership , opportunities , service , and the available scholarships to members . “ You should take advantage of PTK to be the best version of who you can be . You are well qualified academically and have good character .”
He encouraged the inductees to make contact with other PTK chapters , run for office in PTK , use your membership to network , and be involved in service .
“ If a classmate is struggling academically , help him out . If a classmate is considering dropping out of Williamson , help him out . Take advantage of all that PTK offers .”
Dr . Michelle Williams , vice president of academic affairs / chief academic officer , then said , “ The induction ceremony begins now . These students have fulfilled all the requirements for membership and they have been recommended for acceptance into the Beta Chi Mu chapter of PTK .
“ You are about to be inducted into a scholarly fellowship . Success does not come to you , you go to it .”
Each student then signed the chapter record book and lit a candle they were holding , forming the torch of knowledge .
The ceremony ended with the singing of the PTK official song .
The 2-day spring Career Fair attracted 141 companies that were anxious to hire Williamson graduates .
