Greetings Gents !
Misha and I would like to wish you and your families a very Happy New Year ! By the time this goes to press I would think that we are seeing some semblance of normalcy filtering back into our lives ! So , as you all know , I have been begging you blokes for years , decades , an eternity , for information that I can incorporate into these updates . Well , we have great news in the New Year ! John Quarino , yup , JQ of Phi Beta Stell fame , has provided us with some pertinent information . Here we go with quotes directly from the vertically challenged one and only John Quarino .
“ I , too , have retired after 33 + years with Lockheed Martin . My last day was 1 / 3 / 2020 , and of course my first year of retirement has not quite been what I had envisioned . Notwithstanding , the defense business being what it is , I managed to keep my job through many mergers and acquisitions over the course of those 33 years . And while I essentially never left “ THE ” company ( hence my more than 33 years ’ service ), I did work for General Electric , Martin Marietta , Lockheed Martin , and , finally , Leidos , over the course of those many years . Since leaving Williamson in 1982 , I only had two jobs , Westinghouse for the first five years and then the one I retired from . Kathy retired about 15 months before me , so we are now both fully retired . Both of our boys are married , and the oldest has provided us with our two grandchildren , Everett ( 5 ) and Maeve ( 1 ), whom , needless to say , provide us with much joy , excitement , and delight . We are looking forward to getting back to a prepandemic normal again , so we can resume our planned travels .”
Special thanks to John and Kathy ! I truly hope that all of you have managed your way through the pandemic with

9W5 ,
It goes without saying that we are experiencing strange days indeed . I can only imagine having to do eight hours of grounds virtually instead of the under the guidance of the actual Mr . Steward .
Like many of you , I have been staying busy spending time outdoors with my family . I feel like we have hiked or strolled every walkway and trail from Pine Grove to Broad and Pine . That being said , I am grateful for the extra time the situation has given me to spend with Antoinette , Jack , and Kaitlyn . They on the other hand have had enough of me !
It was regretful that our reunion had to be postponed but I am looking forward to doing it soon and with a new appreciation for getting together with friends .
I am putting the call out to Brian McCormick to give me a shout at 610- 420-2767 . It has been way too long and everyone wants an update !

Gentlemen , hope everyone is doing well out there . 2020 was a crazy year and I hope everyone was able to navigate through its complications and make the most out of it . A few months ago , with help from Williamson , I started sending out a mailing list to our class to keep us updated on any news that the school wanted to pass along . It has led to some extensive catching up with some of you which has been fun . Always good to hear how guys from our class are doing and what you are up to . I have email addresses for about 60 % of you . For those that I do not , if you would like to be added to the list … please get in touch with me ! The email address I am using is mike . mcclellan0w7 @ gmail . com . Shoot me an email over there and I ’ ll make sure I update the records to add you to the list .
Perhaps in the future , as the world opens up a bit , we can use that email list

to set up a get-together for those who might be interested . Future goals . Regardless , hope everyone is doing well and look forward to hearing from those
Carbonetta ’ 02 Memorialized by Classmates April 6 , 2021 will go down as one of the saddest days for the Williamson family . We did not just lose a brother , but a Williamson legend .
Before Phil Carbonetta 0W2 stepped on campus , he was already a wellrespected wrestler from Upper Darby High School . He was a first team all Central League and a Central League Champion Wrestler . Phil came just short of qualifying for PIAA state championships his senior year at UD , motivating him to raise his intensity going into Williamson .
When Phil came to Williamson , the wrestling team had high expectations for him . He made major strides as a freshman , even winning two matches at nationals . He made a giant leap his junior year .
Phil entered the NJCAA 2001 nationals as the # 8 seed in the 141 lb . division . In his first match , while down 5-0 to the # 1 wrestler in the nation , he executed his iconic cement mixer and pinned his opponent in the second round of the match .
He went on to win his next three matches as the underdog , even pinning the defending champion in 16 seconds to qualify for the finals .
In the final match , Phil took Brandon Lehman , a 3-time New York state champion , and 1999 New York Wrestler of the Year , to double overtime , where Phil lost on a controversial stalling call . In this moment , Phil exemplified what it means to be a “ Williamson Man .” He did not pout , he did not cry foul . He shook Lehman ’ s hand and his coaches , and thanked everyone for the amazing opportunity and the experience of a lifetime . As his long-time friend Sam Oropeza 0W6 said , Phil exemplified being “ humble in victory , gracious in defeat .”
When Phil hung up his singlet , he went on to coach a plethora of young
of you who are interested in joining the distribution list and anyone in general . Thanks !
Mike McClellan 0W7
wrestlers in Delaware County . He coached at Sun Valley , Monsignor Bonner , Marple Newtown , and Upper Darby . There are hundreds of local Delco wrestlers that consider Phil not only a mentor , but a hero .
Phil ’ s legacy is not all wrestling . We remember Phil best for his friendship and love . He would be the first person to elevate you at your lowest , and could make anyone feel like the most important person in the world . His smile could light up any room , and he always asked you , “ Do you know Skippy ?” His famous “ YOO RIP ’ greetings would have anyone cracking up before the conversation began .
Phil may have been the most famous person at Williamson from 1999-2002 . There wasn ’ t anyone he couldn ’ t encourage or spark a conversation with , especially in his senior year . He was also known for the attention he gave to the underclassmen , taking many of them under his wing . Phil was a leader and a motivator who could always turn a difficult situation around and make everything seem brighter . He was not just our friend , but our brother . The void he left in our hearts will never be filled . All we can do is take on that “ Carbo ” mentality of pushing harder in order to keep moving forward .
The 0W2 paint class will never forget the strong bond we created over 20 years ago , and how close we have stayed since our days at Williamson . On behalf of Jeff Stott , Frank Sammons , Ed Howarth , Jared Foster , and Rich Procaccio , we submit this memorial to keep Phil ’ s legacy alive . We will make sure everyone knows the positive impact Phil has had on so many lives !
Respectfully : Sean Henderson 0W2 Sam Oropeza 0W6 Anthony Carbonetta ( Phil ’ s nephew )
